Fitting, this is on Deadspin today. The entire history of how the song became a sports anthem. Oddly enough, it claims the first American team to pick the idea up from soccer was Penn State.

The writer of that article calls it "haunting" like, four different times.

It's simplistic drivel, and it infects its fans with its simplistic driveliness every time the subject is brought up or sung. This article is prime evidence.
