Misc Do you have a land line phone? - Page 3

We have a land line phone and my wife and I each have a cell phone. The land line phone costs about $35 a month. The service itself is fairly cheap but all the various taxes and fees add up. We rarely use it - in fact, I don't remember the last time we used it to make a call. And if it rings it's almost always a political survey of some sort, our friends and family call the cells. I have used it in the past for calling 800 numbers, tech support type stuff, to avoid burning cell minutes, but I don't see that being worth $35 a month.

My wife's argument for keeping the land line is that we need it in case of emergency because a 911 operator gets an instant read on where you're calling from. Apparently that's not always the case with a cell? And I have to admit, I'd hate for something bad to happen because I wanted to save $400 a year.

Just wondering whether or not you guys still have them, and why or why not.

Yes I do. And when I do I don't want to be bothered by a damn phone call. Usually unimportant and could be done when I'm not busy doing what I left the house for in the first place.

People walking around a store with their phones glued to their ears just bug the hell out of me.

I have been debating dropping my land line. I did just recently drop my 2nd line I had set up in our office room. It was hooked up to a fax but could still be used to make calls. It seems wastefull to have both the cells and the land line. I think my land line is only about $20 and it is part of a cox bundle that gives me a discount on my Cable Internet connection.

People walking around a store with their phones glued to their ears just bug the hell out of me.

What bugs me is people using their damn cell phones in the bathroom. It kind of unnerving to walk into a public bathroom and not see anybody but hear them as their sitting on the pot.

Agreed. I cant stand those silly looking bluetooth ear things. Alot of people dont seem to realize how silly they look walking around in public with those things glued to their ears.

Those things really annoy me. I can see using them in the car but that's all.

I used to think the same thing. Being totally hands free with no wires is pretty liberating. I love my bluetooth!!! Who gives shit what anyone thinks? I don't. However, I understand what you mean when you see people walking around and talking to themselves in stores, etc.
