He's a backup.

We weren't arguing philosophy - he said all good teams in the NFL have a great safety. Well the Giants won a Super Bowl and are 11-2 with James Butler and Michael Johnson.

This team's problem is not at safety. It's always easy to blame safeties because they're the last line and out in the open, But it's way down the list.

This defense minus our three emerging young guys is an absolute ****ing JOKE.

Our Safties and LB's literally DEFINE "monkey ****ing a football". They're all over the field, but never in the place they're supposed be.

Look; I understand why using position to get a QB is the right move. And to be honest, I saw some troubling red flags with Thigpen today. But I wish SOMEONE besides myself would throw as much 'Jerk and Spurt'-attention to this defense as they do the Quarterback question.

Don't go handing out those blue ribbons just yet, pal. It was that O-line that created today's comic relief, or as I like to call it; "The LJ Stutter-Splat Run of 08".

Pollard is a fine ST player. Page too. I'm still pissed that Carr allowed Tatum Bell to run 35 yards on that 95 yard drive.

It's not just the talent. Yea, the Chiefs D is deficient in the talent area, but our coaches suck and I don't think the players believe in the staff.

But I really liked him at MIKE today. It seemed like he turned up more often.

Gibril Wilson was an absolute stud for the Giants last year.

Kenny Phillips is also playing great football for them as well.

Does that satisfy you, Herm lover?

You could argue the Giants this year didn't have one for 11 games. That's where superior coaching comes into play.

Unless we magically get superior coaching, we absolutely must upgrade at safety this year as well.

I'm happy with our top 3 CB's on this team, just the rest of the D is completely forgettable.

If Carr continues to develop and we can find a replacement for Page, I believe Pollard can be serviceable, as long as he is coachable.

Pollard will never be great, but with Flowers, Carr (with another year under his belt), and a solid replacement for Page, he's good enough to round out the 4.

That's if he's coachable, and we can teach him to wrap up and improve his cover abilities.

I'd hate for us to have to spend the draft pick or other resources replacing both safeties when we so desperately need a pass rusher and linebacking corp.
