Mock (1/5)

Predictions:

1. The Chiefs have the 24th overall pick, and the 49ers have our 2nd rounder. We have the Cowboys' 6th rounder, however.

2. The Chiefs resign OG Geoff Schwartz to a 2-year, $4m deal.

3. The Chiefs resign WR Kyle Williams, TE Sean McGrath, LS Thomas Gafford, ILB Akeem Jordan, NT Jerrell Powe and S Husain Abdullah to minimal deals.

4. The Chiefs let walk: WR Dexter McCluster, OT Brandon Albert, OG Jon Asamoah, DE Tyson Jackson, OLB Frank Zombo, S Kendrick Lewis, S Quinten Demps

5. The Chiefs cut: QB, Chase Daniel, CB Dunta Robinson

6. Chiefs sign WR Jeremy Maclin to a 3-year, $15m contract, and OT Winston Justice to a 1-year, $2m deal, S Bradley McDougald to a minimum deal.

The Draft:

1. DE Louis Nix, Notre Dame

One of the biggest weaknesses from the Colts loss was our inability to generate pressure. Houston/Hali is a fine combo on the outside, but Poe's starting to stall on his passrush, and DeVito and Jackson never provided much. I like Allen Bailey and Mike Catapano, but we need to stack this front line. STACK. IT.

3. QB A.J. McCarron, Alabama

Andy Reid always needs a guy he can develop from the ashes into a potential star -- he's done it too many times in the past. And I'm not sure if Bray is that guy.

McCarron can be. Smart decision maker who can excel in Reid's scheme.

4. FS Calvin Pryor, Louisville

The Chiefs need to beef up their secondary. I've had it with Demps and Lewis' poor angles and tackling. Here's a guy who can absolutely tackle; it'll be up to the Combine to determine if he's the athlete this team needs him to be. For now, I gamble that he is.

5. OT/OG Justin Britt, Missouri

A bit pie in the sky, perhaps, that Britt falls this far. But it is the NFL Draft we're talking about here.

Britt is a dependable shut down tackle for the Tigers, first team all SEC. However, he is not the gifted athlete that others will be.

6. OLB Aaron Lynch, South Florida

Pure athletic potential here. Long athlete, fluid and strong. Not terribly fast -- he's only a projected 4.8 guy and he looks every bit of it -- but I really like his length.

6. CB Nevin Lawson, Utah State

Lawson's a pure ball tracker -- great for press coverage, even though he is slightly small at 5'10". He's got speed to burn, however, and can be worth a gamble for a team looking for options beyond Sean Smith in the future.

7. RB De'Anthony Thomas, Oregon

Pure speed. This team needs as much of it as it can get.

Because it's common place in the NFL for teams to change up their entire offense and defense when the backups play.

Seriously reerun?

Okay. Well, lets just agree to disagree.

Every pre game show I heard, couldn't believe how the Chiefs were tossing in the towel by resting all of these guys.

It was blasphemous.

How do you think that the Chargers felt?

Did you watch how the Chargers on the ROAD destroyed the Bengals yesterday?

Now, either, the Chiefs backups are other worldly, or the Chargers foolishly took those back ups lightly, and it almost cost them.

You can choose which one YOU prefer to believe.

And, I will let the actions of Andy, and Dorsey tell me what I TRULY THINK.

Houston went out, Flowers went out, LUCK WENT BERZERK.

As for the rest I don't know what crack you are smoking and I never said anything about those things.

Stay on point and quit spreading lies. We shouldn't be talking about Golden Tate in this forum anyway.

I hope you are kidding bud. Most of the time if even ONE key player is out they change things quite a bit (starting QB goes out and teams run more / Houston goes down and Berry blitzes more for example).

MavericksAce - You make some good points but I will agree to disagree with you.

If they could somehow be wearing cowboy hats and then draw pistols and fire them into the air, this would be the best .gif of all time.

Anyone know much about Martavis Bryant? I admit to knowing little about him other than what he did in the Orange bowl, but he looks like a guy that would be a good fit for the offense.

I can see McCluster wanting way more money than he's worth. He's a Pro Bowler () afterall.

I remember this argument when we traded Arenas for Sherman.

I agree, Someone will pay him but it won't be us. Like Milker (?) said, it's more about Toub than the returners. Demps is pretty good and he's always been Reid's guy. I think we re-sign Demps and let double deuce walk unless he takes a big discount.
