I don't understand how that worked out.......he threw the game, so his opponent would win, and make the playoffs instead of another player?
If thats the case.....He should be done IMO |

Any time a team owner deliberately benches his best players ... the reason is insignificant. Crunch the numbers and if the result of the game should be reversed, do it and that owner is done with that league.
You said you are new and you are the commish - so this is a league defining moment. Here is what I would do ... run the score of that team's best players. Award the win based on the score of those players that should have and would have most likely been started, hell use last week's lineup. Whatever happens based on that score is what happens and that owner is still kicked out of the league.

Another question - is this a pay league?
You should do what I suggested anyway, but if this is a pay league you are on the verge of a small uproar.

We have ten teams, winner takes $200.00 pot. I have decided to refund the managers $20.00 entry, and will pay the difference myself to keep the pot at $200.00.

Boot his ass and refund nothing. I'd also be inclined to boot the one that benefitted from the fix...unless he can prove no knowledge/fault. If they're buddies, I doubt he's faultless and gone too.

Does it state in your league rules that you have to start your best players?

The commish of my league threw a game on another league not so someone could make the playoffs, but to keep someone from making the playoffs. It was strategy on his part because the guy he kept out by taking a dive had a good team.

Here are the rules!
1. All league-related transactions will be executed with the intent of improving the owner's team and/or its standing within the league. 2. No owner may drop or "dump" players from their team for any reason other than improving their own team and/or its standing within the league. 3. No owner will engage in any action that may be deemed to be collusive (two or more owners agreeing to make moves that benefit one team, but not the other). 4. No owner will make any roster moves (including waiver claims, trade proposals, roster moves, etc.) whose sole purpose is to hamper the play of other owners. 5. No owner will take any action whose purpose is to, in any way, interfere with fair play in a league. |

Duck Dog .. if you are talking about pay leagues then that's flat out BS team management. Part of the role of the Commish is to maintain a fair competitive balance.
Duck Dog - let me ask you this... Would your commish or you as an owner approve the trade of Manning for a Kyle Boller?
