Order from Clark to not draft a QB in round one

It's stated over and over on this forum that Clark (and Lamar before him) have forbidden the GM's from drafting a QB in round one.

Do you believe this is true or is this just a tinfoil hat conspiracy? Poll is public and no Gaz option.

That sentence pretty well sums up the crazy range of NFL fan opinions.

Lets take the Packers for instance, in spite of their QB they need atleast a final win and maybe some help to make the playoffs... yet does anyone doubt that they're capable of atleast "making some noise"?

Not that I'm counting on the Chiefs getting in, or if they do, going anywhere... but it IS true that just getting in opens up a whole range of possibilities. Maybe that first team you face has an inexplicable run of bad luck, maybe your star back has a career 220 yard game etc.

Maybe your next team lost a crucial player to injury... the list of ifs could go on forever. If we actually get in, hell yes I'd have some hope that maybe JC would have a career day and maybe our defensive turnover drought came to a screeching halt with 3 picks and 5 sacks etc.

So we win the wildcard, but lose the next round... all I was asking for from this particular team was to advance one time this year anyway, then grow and move on the next.

I'm rambling, but just "getting in" isnt such a bad thing if a team is capable of capitalizing on it... but we're not getting in even with a win, cleveland and jacksonville arent winning shit, let alone on the same day.

Go Packers?

The Packers are already in, they're playing for home field throughout this weekend, they have Aaron Rodgers, one win this postseason will give them as many playoff wins since 2010 than the Chiefs have since 1969....

"Just make it into the playoffs" shouldn't be a strategy year after year, at least not in football. In baseball there's an ~8% difference between the best and worst playoff teams, so just getting in isn't a bad idea. It's more like 20-40% in football, with an obvious advantage going to the teams with the best QBs.... not insurmountable, easy enough to cherry pick teams that have 'just gotten in' or whatever, but the odds are definitely against you.

That's what the Chiefs call it:

"Addressing the position".

Or as I call it:

"Shitting on the fans".

Oh no can't draft a QB, that's risky. He might bust! Or he has to be a Hall of Famer.

Wish they would take that approach with left tackles considering all the ones they have took since 1983. All the busts and fails at that position.

You sure about the Packers? I thought this Detroit game had huge implications since they've already lost to them once.

It doesnt matter anyway, my main basic point is that a single playoff advance with this team would be enough manna to sustain my hope for yet another year... and no, we're not even going to get that much.

So yeah, another year on the outside looking in, rooting for another mfing team... we disagree on the finer points, but the overall song remains the same.

The Detroit game decides the division. They're both 11-4 and in the playoffs. Winner could be 1 seed, loser could be 6 seed.

I just can't envision a scenario where Clark says "Do not draft a QB in the first round".

But by god, if I ever find out that he did, I swear on everything holy that I'm gonna make fun of his hair.
