Charlie Whitehurst
http://www.nflfans.com/x/2006/showpl...e%20Whitehurst MEASUREMENTS HEIGHT WEIGHT 40 TIME 6'5" 223 4.7 ATTRIBUTE SCORE SIZE SPEED STRENGTH ATHLETICISM XFACTOR 8 7 7 7 8 out of 10 out of 10 out of 10 out of 10 out of 10 DRAFTX.com VALUE 61.5 Pros: Prototypical size and frame with great potential, but after this season, potential is all he is. Has shown good speed and leadership. Cons: Really hit a wall junior year - after a promising first 2 outings, did not hold up well. Can make very boneheaded throws at times. Not the best decision maker at times. Draft Exchange Analysis: Official bio: Whitehurst Fact: Joins former all-time Clemson great Homer Jordan as the only quarterbacks to start two wins over top-10 teams in the same season. Years Lettered: 2002,03 Bowl Participation: Starting quarterback in the 2002 Tangerine Bowl against Texas Tech and the 2004 Peach Bowl against #6 Tennessee. Fall 2004 Depth Chart Position: First-team quarterback Overview: All-America candidate...owns 33 school passing records; he has started just 18 career games...Clemson's career leader in seven areas, including pass efficiency and completion percentage...has thrown for more yards (5,115) by the end of his sophomore year than any other ACC quarterback in history other than N.C. State's Philip Rivers...joins Rivers as the only 5,000-yard sophomores in ACC history...shattered the Tiger single-season passing record with 3,561 yards in 2003...tied the single-season school record with 21 touchdown passes in 2003; Woodrow Dantzler also had 21 in 2001...Honorable Mention All-ACC; he missed second-team by just one vote...fifth-best quarterback in the nation by Sporting News; he is the 13th-best by Phil Steele...third-team preseason All-American by Athlon; he is an honorable mention pick by Street & Smith...Heisman Trophy Another... http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/sco...hitehurst.html Height: 6-4 3/4 | Weight: 223 | 40-Time: 4.70 Strengths: Has excellent size...Great arm strength with an overhead delivery...Good natural athlete who can move around in the pocket a little...Smart and tough with solid intangibles...Efficient in the short passing game...Durable three-year starter with a lot of experience...Still has some upside and potential...Has good bloodlines. Weaknesses: Very erratic and has had an up and down career...Makes way too many bad decisions, especially under pressure...Not a threat to run and is basically a pocket passer...Takes unnecessary risks...Needs to be more accurate, especially on deep passes...Holds onto the ball too long...Needs to be coached up and developed. Notes: Son of former Green Bay Packer quarterback David Whitehurst, who played in the NFL from 1976-83...Looked like a potential top prospect early in his career but bottomed out as a junior before bouncing back to a degree in 2005...Has a lot of physical tools to work with and could develop into a starter at the pro level.

Omar Jacobs
http://www.nflfans.com/x/2006/showpl...=Omar%20Jacobs* MEASUREMENTS HEIGHT WEIGHT 40 TIME 6'4" 230 4.85 ATTRIBUTE SCORE SIZE SPEED STRENGTH ATHLETICISM XFACTOR 8 7 6 7 7 out of 10 out of 10 out of 10 out of 10 out of 10 DRAFTX.com VALUE 69.0 Pros: Has put up amazing stats (40 TDs: 4 INTs, 4000+ yards throwing in sophomore year); has the ability to scramble making teams worry twice; prototype size; great arm strength, very accurate on all of his throws, good decision maker, a competitive leader. Quite possibly an ideal fit for the west coast offense. Has good timing in getting recievers off of a break. Arm strength is above average, but is not great. Can make all the throws but has an extra hump in his deep ball over 30 yards. Jacobs is at his best throwing 10-20 yards down field, where he can utilize his accuracy and timing to make up for just above average arm strength. Will complete the ball 75% of the time if not blitzed. Doesn't turn the ball over when hit. Cons: Might have to bulk up from his playing weight of 224 lbs, has played subpar competition for the most part. Seems to lose his nerve against the blitz and throws off his back foot. Locks on recievers, especially when pressured or behind. He only seems to get his star recievers Sharon and Sanders involved when he is behind. Lacks competitive fire, and doesn't seem to lead his team; he is more of a quiet player. Doesn't use his athleticism to elude the pass rush or to make plays with his feet. Seems to want to desperately avoid a stereo-type that he is just another athlete quarterback and wants to be known as a drop back passer and often throws into coverage rather then taking sure first down yardage on his feet. Draft Exchange Analysis: 2004: CNNSI.com honorable mention All-American and MVP of the 2004 GMAC Bowl... first-team All-MAC ... named MAC Offensive Player of the Year...started all 12 games ... led the nation in touchdown passes with a MAC-record 41 ... also led the nation in points responsible for per game (22.5) ... his 45 TDs responsible for also was a MAC record... finished second nationally in total yards per game with a 358.5 average ... his 4,002 yards passing was the second highest total in the country ... also ranked third nationally in passing efficiency (165.47) ... completed 309 of 462 passes (66.9%)... had just four interceptions... his 41 TDs to four interceptions thrown was the best ratio in NCAA IA history... Another... http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/sco...marjacobs.html Height: 6-3 7/8 | Weight: 232 | 40-Time: 4.88 Strengths: Has prototypical size and a big sturdy frame...A very accurate passer...Arm strength is more than adequate...Athletic with solid speed...Moves well in the pocket and can throw on the run...Very smart with the ball and doesn't make a lot of mistakes...Extremely productive...Still has some upside...A leader on the field. Weaknesses: Has a sidearm throwing motion that could lead to a lot of passes being batted down...May need to have his mechanics reworked...Did not play against top competition all the time...Rarely threw the ball deep downfield...Took most of his snaps out of the shotgun...Played in wide open offense that padded his stats. Notes: Had an amazing sophomore season (41 / 4 TD to INT ratio) and then struggled a bit in 2005...Has a lot of tools that you look and might just need to be coached up and adjust to the pro game...A potential starting quarterback at the next level.

Brodie Croyle
http://www.nflfans.com/x/2006/showpr...rodie%20Croyle MEASUREMENTS HEIGHT WEIGHT 40 TIME 6'3" 205 4.87 ATTRIBUTE SCORE SIZE SPEED STRENGTH ATHLETICISM XFACTOR 8 6 7 7 7 out of 10 out of 10 out of 10 out of 10 out of 10 EXCHANGE VALUE 60.0 Pros: Big arm that can make all the throws, prototype size at 63; has great leadership qualities; is very gutsy: tries to play injured and after a hit will always get up; good touch and accuracy, very poised; has good awareness inside the pocket and enough agility to step up and make his throws. Cons: He is injured a lot, a lot. Since 2003 he has had a broken rib, injured shoulder and torn ACL. Is not as polished throwing as other prospects. Sometimes throws into coverages and needs to learn how to read them. Might need to bulk up from 200 lbs. Draft Exchange Analysis: He is a good prospect that looks to be one of the best backups in the NFL for the future but his play is more of not committing turnovers and taking care of his team than winning games. He is too much like Trent Dilfer and could start in a team with a good rushing game and great D, but anymore than that he probably wouldn't work out. After rehabilitating his right knee, Croyle did not participate in contact drills during the spring, although he was healthy enough. We dont need Brodie 100 percent for spring, but we do need him 100 percent for the fall, Tide coach Mike Shula said following spring practice. Croyle is expected to be 100 percent for his senior season. He currently ranks 7th on the career pass attempt list (530); 9th on the career completion list (286); 7th on the career passing yardage list (3,883) and 7th on the career passing TD chart. Brodie is on track to graduate in December. Another... http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/sco...diecroyle.html Height: 6-2 1/2 | Weight: 205 | 40-Time: 4.87 Strengths: Has a cannon for an arm...Smart player who can read a defense and make good decisions...Team leader and hard worker with top intangibles...Patient passer who does all the little things...Naturally athletic...Pretty accurate and displays good touch on his passes...Can really get the ball deep downfield...Has always performed very well when healthy...Has not yet begun to reach his full potential. Weaknesses: Durability is a major concern as he has a troubling history of injuries since his freshman year of high school including a dislocated elbow, a torn labrum and torn ACL's in both his right and left knees...Lacks a solid build and needs to hit the weights and get stronger...Is not a threat to run at all and is purely a pocket passer...Raw and essentially has only two full years of starting experience. Notes: His father, John, played for Paul Bryant and his sister, Reagan, was a basketball player for the Tide and Alabama's 2000 Homecoming queen...Might be a boom or bust prospect...It's all about health with this guy and if he can stay out of the trainers room he has the tools to be a starting quarterback at the next level

Brett Elliott is a guy I wouldn't mind if the Chiefs took a look at in the 7th or as a FA. Sure he was DIV-III but he has a lot of potential and looked pretty good in the Hula Bowl against better competion.

For some reason I really like the QB's after the big three. A lot of them seem like they have the potential to be a starter in the league if a team can overcome their question marks. Croyle or Whitehurst learning behind Green for 1 or 2 years and we could be set at the position. Even guys like Martin and Gradkowski could be great value picks late in the draft. And as you may have picked up I'm an Olson fan too even though he isn't listed here.

Look for the Kansas City Chiefs to select a QB in the 3rd or 5th round to serve as Trent Green's eventual replacement. They're very high on Clemson's Charlie Whitehurst and Furman's Ingle Martin. |

ESPN re-ran the Senior Bowl and All-Star College competition this past weekend. Gave me another chance to look at Olson, Croyle, and Whitehurst. I forgot Whitehurst was still nursing a sore shoulder, but he looked OK. Croyle actually won the longest throw competition over Vince Young because Young couldn't keep it in-bounds. Croyle is a guy I'd LOVE to have. |

Among the teams that popped up on Olson's radar these past months have been the Kansas City Chiefs, St. Louis Rams and Baltimore Ravens. Two weekends ago, Olson also made a trip up to San Francisco to work out with the 49ers |

I swiped this from Tigerboard. Its from ESPN originally.
Brad Smith Rams? Buccaneers? Chiefs? Dolphins? Cowboys? Smith passing test Smith holds the NCAA record for most career rushing yards (4,289) by a quarterback, but most teams have projected he will have to play tailback or wide receiver at the next level. In recent workouts, however, Smith has demonstrated much improved accuracy and touch as a passer. He's probably still going to be drafted as a utility-type player, but a few teams that auditioned Smith lately feel he might eventually be able to serve as a No. 2 or No. 3 quarterback. |

I would love to have Croyle, good arm and attitude.
Would also like to see Brad Smith in red, try as a QB if he doesn't make it, he could be a WR or RB. |

He's just a leader on the field, making clutch plays in clutch situations. I'd love to pick him up in the fifth.
