QBoTF: Rankings, Profiles, and Scouting Reports

What I'm hoping for here is, that posters will find profiles and scouting reports from the top prospects at each of the positions of need for the Chiefs.

I'll use Laz's "rankings" from Draftdaddy.com, to start these threads...I hope you don't mind Laz; Draftdaddy's are a good place to start....

There are lots of "free sites" with profiles and scouting reports out there....this is the place to put all the stuff for WRs. However, if you have access to a premium site (and you have the right to cut and paste, with appropriate crediting of sources) and can post the profiles and scouting reports of the top prospects, or intriguing prospects that you would like to pimp/promote.....here's your chance.

Pros: Has put up amazing stats (40 TDs: 4 INTs, 4000+ yards throwing in sophomore year); has the ability to scramble making teams worry twice; prototype size; great arm strength, very accurate on all of his throws, good decision maker, a competitive leader. Quite possibly an ideal fit for the west coast offense. Has good timing in getting recievers off of a break. Arm strength is above average, but is not great. Can make all the throws but has an extra hump in his deep ball over 30 yards. Jacobs is at his best throwing 10-20 yards down field, where he can utilize his accuracy and timing to make up for just above average arm strength. Will complete the ball 75% of the time if not blitzed. Doesn't turn the ball over when hit.
Cons: Might have to bulk up from his playing weight of 224 lbs, has played subpar competition for the most part. Seems to lose his nerve against the blitz and throws off his back foot. Locks on recievers, especially when pressured or behind. He only seems to get his star recievers Sharon and Sanders involved when he is behind. Lacks competitive fire, and doesn't seem to lead his team; he is more of a quiet player. Doesn't use his athleticism to elude the pass rush or to make plays with his feet. Seems to want to desperately avoid a stereo-type that he is just another athlete quarterback and wants to be known as a drop back passer and often throws into coverage rather then taking sure first down yardage on his feet. 60.0 Pros: Big arm that can make all the throws, prototype size at 6’3”; has great leadership qualities; is very gutsy: tries to play injured and after a hit will always get up; good touch and accuracy, very poised; has good awareness inside the pocket and enough agility to step up and make his throws.

After rehabilitating his right knee, Croyle did not participate in contact drills during the spring, although he was healthy enough. “We don’t need Brodie 100 percent for spring, but we do need him 100 percent for the fall,” Tide coach Mike Shula said following spring practice. Croyle is expected to be 100 percent for his senior season. He currently ranks 7th on the career pass attempt list (530); 9th on the career completion list (286); 7th on the career passing yardage list (3,883) and 7th on the career passing TD chart. Brodie is on track to graduate in December.

Weaknesses:
Durability is a major concern as he has a troubling history of injuries since his freshman year of high school including a dislocated elbow, a torn labrum and torn ACL's in both his right and left knees...Lacks a solid build and needs to hit the weights and get stronger...Is not a threat to run at all and is purely a pocket passer...Raw and essentially has only two full years of starting experience.

Notes:
His father, John, played for Paul Bryant and his sister, Reagan, was a basketball player for the Tide and Alabama's 2000 Homecoming queen...Might be a boom or bust prospect...It's all about health with this guy and if he can stay out of the trainers room he has the tools to be a starting quarterback at the next level

Brett Elliott is a guy I wouldn't mind if the Chiefs took a look at in the 7th or as a FA. Sure he was DIV-III but he has a lot of potential and looked pretty good in the Hula Bowl against better competion.

For some reason I really like the QB's after the big three. A lot of them seem like they have the potential to be a starter in the league if a team can overcome their question marks. Croyle or Whitehurst learning behind Green for 1 or 2 years and we could be set at the position. Even guys like Martin and Gradkowski could be great value picks late in the draft. And as you may have picked up I'm an Olson fan too even though he isn't listed here.

Look for the Kansas City Chiefs to select a QB in the 3rd or 5th round to serve as Trent Green's eventual replacement. They're very high on Clemson's Charlie Whitehurst and Furman's Ingle Martin.

Whitehurst in the third, OR Martin in the fifth would be good choices....although I wouldn't be surprised if both are gone by those points in the draft....

ESPN re-ran the Senior Bowl and All-Star College competition this past weekend. Gave me another chance to look at Olson, Croyle, and Whitehurst. I forgot Whitehurst was still nursing a sore shoulder, but he looked OK.

Croyle actually won the longest throw competition over Vince Young because Young couldn't keep it in-bounds.

Croyle is a guy I'd LOVE to have.

Among the teams that popped up on Olson's radar these past months have been the Kansas City Chiefs, St. Louis Rams and Baltimore Ravens. Two weekends ago, Olson also made a trip up to San Francisco to work out with the 49ers

Smith holds the NCAA record for most career rushing yards (4,289) by a quarterback, but most teams have projected he will have to play tailback or wide receiver at the next level.

In recent workouts, however, Smith has demonstrated much improved accuracy and touch as a passer. He's probably still going to be drafted as a utility-type player, but a few teams that auditioned Smith lately feel he might eventually be able to serve as a No. 2 or No. 3 quarterback.

He's worth a look in the 6th or 7th, considering the quality of those picks usually.....

I'm high on Olson also.

He's just a leader on the field, making clutch plays in clutch situations.

I'd love to pick him up in the fifth.

A lot of them seem like they have the potential to be a starter in the league if a team can overcome their question marks. Croyle or Whitehurst learning behind Green for 1 or 2 years and we could be set at the position. Even guys like Martin and Gradkowski could be great value picks late in the draft. Smith passing test Smith holds the NCAA record for most career rushing yards (4,289) by a quarterback, but most teams have projected he will have to play tailback or wide receiver at the next level. In recent workouts, however, Smith has demonstrated much improved accuracy and touch as a passer. He's probably still going to be drafted as a utility-type player, but a few teams that auditioned Smith lately feel he might eventually be able to serve as a No. 2 or No. 3 quarterback.
