Moderation is the key to everything. I've lost 40 pounds since October and all I've really done is eat smaller portions and completely cut out sugary drinks (I do allow myself one Pepsi a month).

This place is definitely slipping. All this talk about meat and protein with Luv being the thread starter and not one joke about if she will be cutting sausage out of her diet or any suggestions on where she could pick up extra protein. I am disappoint.

FYI Luv, diet stuff and artificial sweeteners have the same effects as the sugar, just without the calories. It will still spike your insulin and it will still make you crave.

Drink more water - it keeps you full and its good for you. Many times thirst is mistaken for hunger.

Depends on the sweetener. I believe Truvia has 0 insulin response. Not 100% sure on that, but I know its minimal.

Yup...best way to get a 100 post thread on CP is to ask or talk about a diet. Guaranteed every time.

Guns cause you to be fat. That'll be $7.99 plus tip. Cassel will be back next year.

Most controversial thread ever.

While I do need to lose more weight, that isn't necessarily the reason for wanting to change. I know we've gotten into that side of making changes. I've just heard so many people that have tried it comment (in passing, not that they're pushing that lifestyle change on anyone else) on how great they feel. I've heard it from enough people, that I want to try. I really think that just eating seafood will be good. I just have to watch how it's prepared. Sure, shrimp is good, but not really if it's battered and deep fried, cooked and served with gobs of butter, etc.

A lot of people feel great when they first go veggie but it's because they are dropping a ton of crap food. Then, after a couple of years, they end up not feeling so great or end up with health issues (this is more true of vegans than vegetarians that eat some meat or eggs). The Paleo world is full of ex-vegans.

It might be easier to just drop the crap food.

Also, if you go primarily plant based, don't forget about potatoes. They are one of the few veg sources of complete protein and a good chunk of the carbs in them are resistant starches, which slow any blood sugar spikes and also feed the good bacteria in the gut. Since I've started making potatoes a big part of my diet, my blood sugar levels has actually gone down.
