Why Manning ruled out KC...

Apparently, teams were pre-qualified by Manning prior to any visits. When Condon was contacted by the 12 teams, he told them that the contract Manning was starting at was 5 for 90 and going from there.

Teams either had to say in or out at that point.

From there, Manning narrowed his selections.

I was told this from someone yesterday, and then today on Twitter, a great guy to follow, Andrew Brandt commented on it as well. I was leery about what I was told, but this guy confirmed it.

The Chiefs never got past the pre-qualified stage.

Seattle did, but when Manning narrowed his choices, the roster had no appeal.

Just thought I'd post this since we had a lot of discussions about why the Chiefs never got a face to face.

The running game was horrible without Tebow in there. If you're looking at the talent that could surround Manning, Denver was probably the least talented of the bunch. They will have to revamp their offense to go with Manning. He is used to running two TE, 1 rb sets, which the Broncos don't really have now.
The Donks D was 6th in the NFL in 3rd down defense and was in the top 10 in the league in sacks. If Manning can consistantly put up 25+ PPG (his average for his career is 26) the Donks defense will be ferocious. If a team gets 3rd and anything longer than 5, the Donks are most likely gonna get a sack.

just irritated that he had to go to denver.

like i needed another reason to hate that team.
He can say it all he wants, but choosing a team with a shit defense, o-line, weapons, and running game says otherwise.

I thought Manning and Elway were golfing buddies? That wouldn't have anything to do with him going to Denver would it?

So in other words they can be like the Colts D who could only play with a lead. That worked great for the Colts all those years in the playoffs. It worked great for the Saints and Packers this year in the playoffs. I would have thought Peyton had learned his lesson and wanted to go to a talented team that didn't have to depend on him being great every game for them to win.

Broncos gave up 42 sacks last year despite the fact they were last in the league in pass attempts. Peyton is going to have to hide a lot of warts on that team.

Players like Manning and Elway have such ceserved confidence in their own abilities that the supporting cast is not as essential to them as we think it is. What I always remember though is this: Elway never won a Super Bowl until they got Terrell Davis. Humbling truth isn't it? It's a team sport.

more probably... The Titans would have easily outbid us if Peyton had allowed this to turn into a bidding war.
