People used the same appeal to authority to defend Pioli and Haley with Cassel.

There is no "they're going to draft a QB next year" if we trade for Alex Smith. Because we won't be in a position to get one. HE IS THE QB. PERIOD.

How the **** do you know that? Teams have done this before. The Seahawks and Redskins are perfect examples.

I don't buy that. What pick you think we'd give up for Smith? Seeing as we draft first or second in every round, I don't see anything higher than a fourth. We're drafting a QB this year, and more likely than not, one in the first three rounds.
