58 - POOR TACKLING is the reason we've surrendered so many rushing yards. Started in '98 -- has improved a bit, but it's still not good enough IMO. Pro RBs will bust through an arm-tackle. These guys need to start wrapping up! Patton is the only one I see doing that on every play.

HC, sad but true...I saw a lot of missed/broken tackles the other night...I read that obviously the run D is one area Gun wants to see improve...I hope he can teach the players how to tackle....it is definitely a lost art...
SEC, maybe it's the six packs before the game that has given them the edge.... When Clemons does make it back do you move browning back inside or continue to start Dan williams? A very nice problem to have. This line should and probably will improve on the rush defense.

This is exactly what I wanted. Crushed QBs. Pencil necks running for thier lives, looking frantically for someone, ANYONE to throw the ball to. Happy feet and rushed passes.
And all of it without blitzing. I am in heaven. xoxo~ gaz savoring the sweet smell of crushed QBs.<BR> |

Gaz, I thought about you when I posted this thread...that is the most noticeable thing about this D...not as many blitzes and we are still getting sacks...Clemons was looking real good before he got hurt, Hicks is fast becoming a premier DE...McGlockton earns his money in a quiet way and Williams is starting to earn his keep...Browning is solid...overall I am extremely happy with our DL...so it may not be better than the Chiefs of the 60s and 70s but it may be the best we've had since...
How many sacks do the Chiefs have overall?...around 15 or so...and almost all by DL... Personally I would like to see Browning playing 2nd in the rotation behind both Clemmons and Williams.
Luz hicks, glock, williams, clemmons... wow!... |
