Alex Smith Traded to Chiefs

Well, it looks like the deal is done.

https://twitter.com/intent/user?scre...w_p=tweetembed

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
49ers have completed a trade with the Chiefs for Alex Smith, tho can't be official til March 12. Chiefs really made a commitment to Smith

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
Deal has been agreed upon between Chiefs and 49ers. Compensation unclear but I'm told again Chiefs have made a clear commitment to Smith.

I'd also look into it with an open mind. You're yelling at me like I'm the one who made the decision. Nope, the guys that actually have been in the league and coached and GM'd are making this move.

Show a little faith in your new coach I say. He made Vick better than he was, he got a 2nd for Kolb making him look better than he was, he made Foles look decent. I see no reason Alex won't flourish under Reid.
Why can't you ****ing get it? This franchise has had enough brokedick retreads that "helped the team" to 8-8. 9-7, 10-6 records. This fanbase wants a dynamic talent at QB that can get us over the hump. Not some limpdick Steve Bono clone who can't make a play to convert a 3rd and 6 in the Wild Card Round.

All Alex Smith does is delay that dynamic QB's arrival in KC at least another three years.

Oh I see, so today is statistics day not playoff win day?

I get confused on whats most important because it changes regularly depending on what point someone is trying to make about x player.

What about QBR? He was 1 or 2 in wins(but who wants wins?), TD/int ratio, comebacks, effieciency.

He also only threw the ball 25 times a game. If his stats were inflated to 32 he would be right up there in top 10 category.

Uh, he only had 25 attempts/game by design. Harbaugh knew he was the weak link.

Like who though? They don't just grow on trees magically. You want to waste a number 1 pick on a guy that may be a bust? What if Geno flops? Then what? You guys would suck for 10 more years.

Alex is the best option for you at this moment. He may not be this franchise QB you want but do you really feel Geno is? I say maybe, but again if he's not you are set back for years.

Alex is your best option. Again his contract dictates that you can cut him next year if you want. If he doesn't work out you lose a 2nd rounder. If he does you may just be a decent team.

It's always been dead except for the morons at CP.

There simply was not a QB this year, worthy of the #1 overall pick. Our coaches and scouts saw that, have more resources and "expertise" than the people here on a fan msg board.

I will agree that we were completely raped in the Alex Smith trade, but I will also say that from day 1 this organization was never going to go w/ a QB in rd 1 unless they traded down.

Maybe, but I think it's because we had Frank Gore. Our offense was at one time top rated in total yards this year.

You guys have Charles to carry some of the load, while Alex manages the game. That is what he is so good at. I'm not here saying Alex is the greatest QB ever, but I would say his smarts and his ability to make adjustments at the line are right up there with the best of him.
