A few interesting chiefs tidbits
A former chief player and now ambassador told me today a few little tidbits about the working environment at Arrowhead over the past 4 years.
1. Tom Donovan personally apologized to several of the chiefs ambassadors for how they were treated by Pioli. Bill Maas was one of those. Aparently some weren't even allowed on the arrowhead premises. Now they are allowed to go there for everything from working out to getting treatment. 2. The ambassadors were all introduced to head coach Andy Reid by John Dorsey. Many of them hadn't ever met Haley or Crennel, as they weren't allowed to be a part of the chiefs inner workings. 3. There were apologies to employees, present, and former employees for how the organization was split into haves (Pioli and his coaches) and have nots (everyone else), whereby the have nots were not even allowed into several of the areas of the stadium and offices that they needed to go to the job they were hired to do. 4. The coaches hired by Pioli were not hired because the process was too late (Haley), or it was the best man for the job (Crennel). Rather, nobody else even remotely qualified would even interview for the position because of how the organization was run. This same feeling was felt among free agents as well. None of this is earth shattering news, but it sure does make is easier to realize how this organization became such crap so fast. Here's to hoping this is the first season that the ship begins to go in the right direction. |
