Man, they will give you every chance to graduate if you show you got your shit together! I know this, because i did it.

They will work with you and in many cases go out of their way to help you out as long as you put in the work and it shows. I had to go in front of the school board and tell them, my bullshit past was over, they gave me the ok and i did it.

It's called engagement, and it is an important component of student success. While his presentation may seem disrespectful, at the age level she appears to be teaching, she has to realize that she has an obligation to EARN their respect and not rely solely on her position.

And sometimes, those of us who recognize that the person with the title is wasting our time, feel compelled to fire shots across the bow of a listing ship. (In the interest of full disclosure: Bob Dole made a grown man MIS professor run from the classroom in tears with a similar rant once upon a time.)

Same. I've known some troubled emotionally fragile kids, especially in high school, who make these stands for truth, righteousness, and justice with soaring rhetoric, but when you actually learn about what they are complaining about, you roll your eyes and think "ok, they've got problems".
