Probably doesn't increase desperation for Davis, or really affect them... unless they offer something stupid for a Duffy + Davis package. I'd hate it. But still... depending on the offer... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Then again, Trout's first foray into MLB didn't go so well either. His first 40 games were pretty rough. But they weren't 12 strikeouts in 20 PAs rough. And Moncada was even showing some alarming swing/miss tendencies in high A (though his contact was so hard that it didn't matter much). There are some undeniable rough edges to Moncada's game that were long gone by the time Trout was 21. Still a pretty nice haul for CHW though. I hated it when the Sox got Kopech signed a couple years ago but knew the second that they drafted him that they had a plan in place to manage it. It's always brutal when talent like that slides to the back of the first round where the rich can get richer.

Comparing anyone to the next Mike Trout is silly imo. You could line up 20 guys who have similar tools and very likely none would be close to as consistently dominant as Trout has been. He's a once a generation combination of talent, consistency and mental makeup.
Bryce Harper may turn out to be as good or better. But right now he's a good example of how hard it is to be a consistent MVP candidate year-in/year-out like Trout has done. |

@matthewpouliot: Davis and Moustakas are the obvious fits for Dodgers. Puig? DeLeon? Maybe Cain and Pederson somehow? Re:
@jonmorosi: #Dodgers and #Royals engaged in trade discussions but progress is slow, source says. @McCulloughTimes has been on this. @MLB @MLBNetwork |

No ****ing thanks to Puig.
Hadn't thought about Moustakas to the Dodgers. Duffy-Davis to the Nationals would require a pretty monstrous haul back. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So if we don't trade many pieces now, what are the scenarios of us getting pieces back for our numerous guys scheduled to hit free agency after this year? I personally don't see us being competitive enough to make much noise this year unless we have some career years for players, but I also don't see us being terrible either. I'm just afraid of us being in a situation where we are too afraid to pull the trigger on trades and our top guys walk away next year for basically nothing. We can't afford that with our current farm system.

This is by far the most winnable division for 2017. We were a few back of the wild card in late Aug. with all the injuries and bad performances (Alex, I'm pointing right at you). We were 81-78 going into the last series. Why on earth couldn't we compete, with the same cast of characters that's done what they've done? |

@Joelsherman1: Hear #Royals plan is to move Davis and Dyson, cut payroll, get some prospects, try to win with remaining pieces, reassessing July
