He was trying to force his hand to land with Kubiak in Houston. He wanted to leave with a big "**** you". What you folks apparently don't understand is that Jake retiring like this is actually the best case scenario for us. The trade with Tampa was contingent on Jake playing. Since he's retiring, we now can go after the remaining signing bonus that he didn't play up to. That's going to be a pretty hefty chunk of cap room due back to us for next season that we wouldn't have otherwise been able to recover.

You're making a big assumption that Denver will pursue that bonus and that arbitrators will make Plummer pay it.

99.9% of all NFL players that retire don't repay a single penny of their signing bonus. The only two examples anyone can come up with (Sanders and Williams) are unusual circumstances.

My money is on the Broncos not getting a dime of that money back.

Even if the Donkeys get some of his bonus money back, they're still going to have to sign a new backup QB, and the way this market is looking, that could cost more than the money they'll recover.
