Play Calling
First of what a great day to be a Chiefs Fan.
I'm very excited about the defense, as well as our running game. I'm a little pissed about the play calling. It seemed like there were some series where we forgot about the run, this was especially after a turnover. I know the NFL book says to make em pay after a TO, but, man Jun the ball own their ass and beat them into the ground. I loved how we gave LJ a series, I think 9-10 carries is about right for now. Priest was the work horse like he should be. But why on earth did we think we needed to pass the ball when Roaf went out? The best thing to do IMO is pound it up the middle, and not let their DE's tea off on Green. Anyway, lots of people impressed me, Priest, LJ, DJ, Mitchell, Parker to name a few. I hope Trich is alright, and the others that got dinged up. |

I mentioned the same thing earlier. I think we tried to force the passing a little more than we needed to. Now, we don't need to completely forget about it.
I think losing Roaf really threw us for a loop. |

I was a little miffed at the pass play that got picked in the end zone. When you have, arguably, the two best backs in the league at your disposal, you pound the ball down their throat when you're that close. At that point, we were obviously trying to pound another nail in the coffin.

I would agree that we should have pounded it more, but at the same time, I think I understand the mentality behind the use of the passing game.
Going into the game, the Jets perceived weakness was their secondary, and Al probably wanted to try and exploit that.

I think we're gonna air it out next week. Oakland looked really good against the run the other night, absolutely horrific against the pass. Having Ted Washington probably has a little bit to do with that. It also probably depends on how healthy our line is too.

Circumstances taken into account...
I liked the play calling. The only exception I can think of is the INT in the end zone. Once again, Saunders got too cute, IMO. Seattle flashback syndrome is lurking just beneath my apparently placid surface. I also did not like the final series when we obviously did not intend to get into the end zone. Given their personalities, I assume that was a Vermeil decision, rather than a Saunders decision. Since the game was long out of reach by that point, I will not complain TOO much, but I think it is a always a mistake to let back on the throttle. Kudos to Saunders and the Offense for executing without Roaf and Richardson in the line-up. xoxo~ Gaz Generally pleased. |

Agree we should have ran on the series where we threw the INT.
As far as I'm concerned, inside the 10 we run on the first 2 downs, then maybe run again on 3rd. when you have the most prolific TD scoring runner in the history of the NFL, that's how you do it.

Really liked the slant patterns. Nearly unstoppable for 4 yards or so.
I didn't understand the calling at the end of the first half though. While I like "putting a nail in the coffin", I didn't want to see Green get killed. 17 point lead at home. Kneel it and go to the locker room. By the way... was Boerighter inactive???
