Well, you have to put this discussion in context. The argument was made that, since Eli has 2 rings and Peyton only one, Eli is the better QB, case closed.

I just don't agree with the reasoning. What he does on the field is the measure of how good a QB he is, not what he's got on his fingers. Again, Dan Marino.

El is 7-3 in the post season Peyton is 9-11. It's a litte more than just the rings. One wilts the other blossoms. Obviously Peyton is the better regular season QB so he has earned more playoff games.

I just think it's a silly game to bother with, really. Some QBs are really good... a bunch are good, but less consistently so... and then there are a bunch who don't play well often enough and a bunch further that rarely look competent. Of all these QBs, they have added benefits and obstacles like great or shit talent around them.. lots of or not enough of scheme consistency... etc.

That's pretty much it. Rankings and the better than game of good QBs is a kid's game played as if these QBs were in a vacuum, IMHO.

Without two gifts from Kyle Williams, Eli is 5-4 in the post season. Sure, better percentage wise than 9-11, but not spectacularly better.

Career wise, Eli just doesn't compare to Peyton.

Interesting stat.

Career regular season passer rating

Eli 82
Petyon 98

Career post season
Eli 89
Peyton 88

Obviously that doesn't tell the whole story, but it's an interesting trend.

Alex has already beat one and hopefully will be 4-0 against them this year including a playoff win.

Well, here's a theory: For many of the seasons in Peyton's career, the AFC was supreme, and the NFC was kind of minor league. All but two of Peyton's playoff games were against AFC teams during its reign of superiority over the NFC. Ergo, you would expect a lower passer rating against superior teams.

Sounds far fetched, but I'm not going to research it. It doensn't matter anyways.....

AFC was 8-3 in the Superbowl from 1998 to 2008, the first 11 seasons of Peyton's career.

I don't think it's far fetched. The worse your opponent, the better you look.

That doesn't tell you much. Did he play any of those teams, if so were the defenses good? There is a lot to look up there.

Well, the NFL changed some rules just to ease Peyton's tears, so they must consider him the best. Don't think that happened for Eli.

Hey remember when it was said that Alex needed to be kept at a low pitch count? Whatever happened to that theory? He's thrown an average of 36.5 passes a game and what's funny is that he's been money in the 4th Qtr where his arm should be the most fatigued.

You guys look rather silly now.

His number have dipped some with the increase in attempts as some of us predicted. YPA, comp%, QB rating all are down right now. They just aren't down as bad as I feared they might become, but it's still only a 25% sample size of a season. Compared to what I expected though I'll take his current line in a heart beat.
