If you care about rankings, Mizzou checked in as the 47th best class according to Rivals. If it were based on average ranking we'd likely be much lower.

Remember when our big signing day stresses were Even Boehm and the #1 recruit in the country?
Now it's some 3-star JUCO defensive tackle. Man, this class is balls.

Well after waiting on pins and needles for a likely forgettable JUCO transfer, at least they actually GOT him.
Malik Jackson signed away from Florida. Nice recruiting win I guess, still underwhelming compared to where we were even 3-4 years ago.

Gabe DeArmond of PowerMizzou on the class:
This is an okay class. I'm not going to say it's terrible because Rivals ranks it 46th or whatever. It's not great either. You can survive a class or two like this if it's better than the rankings and if it doesn't become the norm. You can't win consistently in the SEC recruiting in the mid 40s. Next year's their shot to have a big class and they've got to win to do it. I like Brooks and Miller a lot, I think Tyree Gillespie is a big sleeper and I am gonna root like hell for O'Shae Clark. We'll see how it all pans out over time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

'Bama tells a 4 star DE to pound sand who'd been a strong commit for a long time because they got someone better. They tell him the morning of National Signing Day because a kid they were chasing signed.
So what's he do? ****ing greyshirts. Kid didn't even go elsewhere, he's just going to sit out a season and take a scholarship in '18. Man, **** Alabama and **** the NCAA for allowing this kind of thing. I don't know what the fix is but surely they can figure something out. This just isn't fair to these kids at all.

And they ultimately did. Good to know my source was right on that one.

A great example in the 2018 class is Daniel Carson, a DE from William Crisman who is an absolute stud. His recruiting has been blowing up this week. Growing up in KCMO he's obviously a Mizzou fan and attended a Mizzou camp and visited Mizzou a few times this past season. The coaches didn't offer, and they should of. This week he got a KU offer, a Oklahoma offer, a K-State offer, a Iowa State offer and then an Ole Miss offer. Well about an hour after that Ole Miss offer someone at Mizzou realized I guess we should probably offer this kid and they finally did. The point I'm trying to make is they aren't loyal to these local kids, they sleep on them. |

It seems like an arrogance in recruiting. Like a "we're not going to dote on you...you should want to come to Mizzou" type of attitude. Some places can do that - Alabama, OSU, etc - we can't.

I think they know they're not gonna pull any of the good in state talent so they don't try very hard and focus on the diamonds in the rough instead.
