No it does not. But a less potent narcotic tramadol does a lot for me. Its just how my body metabolizes them. Oxycontin and Tramadol are similar for me.

You're lucky, because tramadol possesses a fraction of the addictive potential of true opiates (as you probably know).

Really? I'd be curious to see that information. Everything I know about it is that it's a safer, preferred alternative to opiates. The problem is that it's not nearly strong enough for a lot of people suffering from chronic pain. I have two different relatives who take it fairly regularly, though, so I'd be interested in seeing these side effects. Most sources say that it has few side effects, and that they're rare.

Interesting and very timely subject for me.
I jacked up my knee a month ago and I am going to need surgery. The thing that scares me the most is hAving to take pain pills. I have never taken anything stronger than plain ol tylenol or Motrin. I've had my wisdom teeth pulled and some of my female parts taken and I did not take pain pills after those surgeries. I'm gathering howeve, after a full ACL replacement and miniscus clean up, I'm going to need pain pills. Vicodeine is what my doctor told me he was going to subscribe. I'm even looking into medical marijuana as an alternative. I really don't want to take pain pills. Shit makes me nervous. I don't want to get sick cuz that would suck right after knee surgery, and I don't want to fall in love with them either. I have an addictive personality. The whole idea just sucks....

if the pain pills bother your stomach you don't need them anymore and he was right. When in agony you don't notice the upset stomach. I have an addictive personality too but that guide line made it easy to know when to stop. Weed and vicodin = Win The weed will take the edge off the stomach discomfort. Not either but both. |

By keeping it in check that way I always felt that I was in control of the med, not the other way around, so when it came time to stop I had no issues. Good luck on your surgery. |

Vicodin does nothing for me. Works for some people. Just keeps me awake with the pain. Threw my leftovers down the toilet. Now Percs, those work.

Fortunately for all that ails me, I must wait till something blows out to get it repaired or wait until ObamaCare kicks in. My doctor advised me its going to be a long time before I will get the surgeries done to stop the pain.
In the meantime, they ( ObamaCare ) want me to scale down and live in more pain. No crap, we will be looking for alternative ways ( which is good for the body ) to combat the pain, but that I will have to live in more pain than I do now by taking less narcotics. They want to do this with my wife, a bed ridden woman terminally ill on 2 x 80 mg of oxcycotin daily,4 x 10mg oxcycodone, 3 x 800mg nuerotin. This is what piss's me off about the ObamaCare crap. They need to get their crap together. We both have to go in for a narcotic examination, a $ 250.00 mandatory evaluation to continue getting our medication this month. $ 500.00 from a poor middle class family that I do not have the funds in these tough times. If we miss the appointments, they cut us off,if we can't pay, they cut us off. What was that CRAP about HEALTH PANELS ? That's QUALITY HEALTH CARE at it's finest, it's OBAMACARE FOR AMERICANS. |

Vicodin works great for me. Was on it for about a month because of 2nd almost 3rd degree burns. Quit cold turkey with no problems.

Vicodin is minor league. I took that stuff for back pain once and it did nothing.

What was first thought to be a super severe toothache and turned out to be Trigeminal Neuralgia it worked for a few hours but I had to pop two.
I did notice it made my sex drive go sky high which is bad since I want it multiple times a day anyway. I even ended up calling up a psychologist since it was starting to cause problems in my relationship not knowing that it was a side effect of the drug and using them on a daily basis. |
