Credit Card Advice

I have held off on credit cards for good long while now but I need to establish some credit. I think it would help out here and there to have a CC.

What is my best choice?

Not really best choice as much as most responsible choice credit card wise. There are a shit ton of options out there. Any advice?

Agreed Student loans are a great way to improve your credit the down side is if you get too far into them (like around 30K) it could be 30 years before you finish paying

Don't.

You don't need them to maintain or establish credit...

I can't sleep knowing I'll soon tie my credit to the woman in the other room.

How will she ever forgive me?...

Don't ever let her go. If you do, you're ****ed.

Looking forward to the big day as it draws near?

Odds are I knocked her up at some point anyway.

I figure I'm saving money in the long run...

You're asking someone who's hardly ever dated, let alone gotten married. I have no clue what's normal.

Anyway, I've got "homework" to go work on. I'm only on page 36. I'll catch ya later.

Oh, and if she's the one that does the laundry, what do you care if you shit your drawers?

And Amex is a great company to deal with if you ever have a problem.

The other card I carry is a Capital One No Hassle Visa, only use it when I can't use my Amex card. Stay away from Citibank, MBNA, and Chase, they are the biggest scumbags on earth IMHO. If you have a credit union, thier MasterCard and Visas are usually pretty good as well.

I stopped reading after this post. Listen to this poster. Good advice.

Since you have no credit, you *might* have to start with a secured card then you will get offers left and right in the mail. I would start with a local credit union first if possible.

AMEX is the most respected card out there. If you want to build up some credit, that would be the way to go.

Dont be a dumb**** like I was and go on a spending spree and make late payments. If you can be responsible about this, then make it happen, if you have doubts. Then dont do it.

Your a rock star now. The bank will now front you for all the coke and whores you could possibly want

Really though, if you can get a home loan, your credit is good. Well at a decent interest rate of course.

You may have already received this advice about credit cards.

When you recieve them, use a regular paper shredder. It usually does a pretty good job on them and helps protect you from the difficulties that credit cards frequently bring - especially to younger folks.

Save and pay cash for everything. Or at least as much as possible.

That's probably not what you want to hear, but it is the advice I have given my kids and grandkids.

Good luck.
