Chiefs Kansas City held hostage by Absentee Ownership - Page 7

Just my opinion feel free to ignore, but that should be the theme of saveourchiefs.

This city has been held hostage by disconnected, out-of-town ownership and that's the narrative the national (and to some degree local) media have missed. Clark Hunt lives in Texas and David Glass lives in Arkansas. They can't feel your pain or passion. They're tone deaf to the issues undermining their teams. They're riding the NFL and MLB gravy trains. They turn a profit regardless of how much effort they put into their ballclubs.

Kansas City sports fans are tired of being held hostage by Absentee Ownership.

It doesn't matter where you live. Just because I live 560 miles away doesn't mean I'm any less of a fan than someone living in KC. I watch the games on TV too, and even attend some (like last Sunday's Baltimore game).

But at the same time, it is A cause for these dinosaurs. You're a young fella that gets on the web and interacts with people. You won't see clark or david doing that. Their information is from their Team executives and national media.

Whitlock isn't saying it's THE problem, that they are from out of town... he's saying it's helping to cause the problem, which in these two cases would be correct. It ultimately comes down to they don't have a clue about what is really going on with their organizations.

And for the money spent on the soccer teams, that is basically Matt Cassel's contract in the scheme of things. Clark has the right stragtey IMO to run the team. Hire the best men to run your franchise. The marketing wing has ramped up sinc Donovan was hired. Hell the tv and media productions coming out of Arrowhead is top notch.

Trouble is on the football side, he hired a crazy micro manger trying to hard to prove he was the brain behinds the Patriots when he wasn't.

So Wendler, Clark is associated with the team when it involves one of the greatest tragedies in Missouri state history, and when an almost legendary player on his family's team gets into the Hall of Fame?

Clark is a relatively new owner.

He fired Carl. Then he went out and hired the guy who was the biggest name available for that job.

That hire didn't work out. But we can't say Clark won't fire a GM or isn't involved with the team. He tried to go big with the GM hire las time It isn't like he doesn't attend the games. It isn't like he didn't fire the last one. This isn't Lamar's last decade or anything of true absentee ownership.

That being said, Clark has something to prove to us now. This clearly is not working out. Does he have the courage to fire Pioli or will he give him yet another head coach to prove the problem is not him?

Sure, and I agree with part of this, but my question is Clark's ability to see through the BS and find the right football guy. He was clearly boonswaggled by Pioli.

Clark married a Lee's Summit girl. While he's not residing here, there are living quarters in Arrowhead and he's still firmly entrenched in KC. Dude can fly here in 2 hours any time he snaps his fingers. The family has tons of business interests outside of sports locally. I recognize the anger and frustration but I'm not sure Clark being an absentee owner is the cause of the Chiefs problems. What would have changed if Clark lived in Leawood?

And that has everything to do with his involvement, passion, savvy, smarts, etc. and nothing to do with where he sleeps at night.
