I think it was a clear picture of what that stadium would look like if things didn't change. It was clear just how unhappy the fans were. I think it helped him to see there were more than a few bad parts - everything had been drawn down into the fail from the GM down to the people in the seats...

Don't forget there was a movement to squash SOC. There was still a zombie contingent that believed the problems could be fixed with a coaching change.

Peyton Manning.
Clark asked him why he didn't come to the Chiefs and he told him Pioli and told him Pioli has a bad rep. He kicked the pebble down the hill that created the landslide to boot out Pioli. Without that, who knows if Clark would have canned Pioli. Funny how Peyton talking to Clark will result in him having an early exit in the playoffs a year later when we beat their asses.

In my opinion, it was 5 things... not ONE thing.
1. The Chiefs continuing to suck. 2. A loud fan revolt that embarrassed the Hunt Family. 3. Clark immediately firing Crenel and interviewing Andy Reid, like a boss... with Pioli, like a bitch. 4. Clark firing Pioli... and quickly hiring John Dorsey. 5. The players buying into Andy Reid. |

I'll go with Clark Hunt for a couple reasons.
First, based on the post season interviews and subsequent actions, he took last seasons failures personally, and probably as an embarrassment to the family. Instead of making adjustments around the edges like his dad would have, Clark cleaned house. Second, he didn't waste time pondering what to do but went after Andy Reid early. Reid could have easily ended up elsewhere had Clark not gone after him right at the end of last season. (Making Pioli cool his heels in the airport lounge was just icing on the cake.) Third, Clark seems committed to not making the same series of mistakes again, like giving the GM too much authority, and letting a negative atmosphere develop in the organization.

Bob Sutton gave the Chief's new offense time to figure it out by amassing a 9-0 record. That 9-0 record cushioned the team from its 3 consecutive losses that would have killed their playoff hopes and their confidence.
I credit Andy Reid for this quote from Jamaal Charles "I asked him what he wanted me to do and he told me to be myself and enjoy the game." - He empowered his employees.
