DayZ

With the DayZ standalone playable alpha release looming, I thought I would check out the mod version of the game. http://dayzdev.tumblr.com/

If you dont know, DayZ is an open world survival zombie game modification based off of the military sim ArmA 2 games. www.dayzmod.com

Basically its hardcore mode survival against zombies and even more dangerous, other players.

I have been watching vids for months and took advantage of a steam sale today to pick up ArmA 2.

Anyone playing DayZ right now? Servers? Thoughts? I have a teamspeak we can use!

h1z1 and dayz are going to be two different games. Dayz will not be out on ps4 until it has finished its development on PC, which will likely put it on consoles on 2016.

Why would a Free To Play game be paid beta?

Because games like that will monetize in a way that will give distinct advantages, starting with early access.

I watched the dev livestream tonight, and came away skeptical that it would be worth trying if it wasn't free.

H1Z1 doesn't look very impressive yet.

It will push the DayZ guys to do the best job possible, though.

Its kind of cool that you can build forts like the in the walking dead with the prisons and defend it. They were talking about doing cool stuff if you want to run a farm and just grow crops you can do that. They are talking about having this hugE HUGE world, Im skeptical of course, but they might be able to pull it off. They said they want the game to feel like its empty with human life. Meaning, yes, there will be people on the server but they dont want you to bump into someone at ever corner.

Like i said, we will see. On paper it sounds nice what they wanna do.

OT: I watch Frankie's channel on YouTube frequently.

What's the deal with that game called Rust? That looks silly. Just a bunch of queers running around naked trying to beat people to death with rocks.

It's like DayZ but for people who want less of a hardcore experience. Plus it has cool base building.

I would definitely play it if I had a group to play with.

If it lives up to what they say, it will be great, but I am skeptical.

There has to be a way for the creators to make money without nickeling and dimeing us to death.

Strange as it sounds, I would rather pay $50 for a game like this instead of getting it for free.

I would have to buy it, and only would if you wanted to play a bunch.

I'm off today if anyone wants to play some.
