Anyone here NOT like Gates bbq?
I have eaten in alot of places in KC, but their meat was really salty, the sauce was confusing, the people just yelled at my family pretty much, it was loud and dirty too. I had the short ribs, someone fill me in with what is good about the place. For comparison some places I like to eat

Gates is generally disappointing now compared to the upper echelon in the city. I mean, if one was is in San Diego or Minneapolis or Detroit or Cincinnati or something, then it'd be an absolute Godsend. But in KC? Meh.

Arthur Bryant's is mostly 'meh' now, too, which saddens me to my core.

I like Gates, but truly the only thing I buy there are burnt ends, and those are the best in town, IMO. The fries are frozen, but I could honestly care less if they didn't even serve fries. I don't go to barbecue restaurants for the sides.

Honestly, I don't care for it all that much. When I fly into KC it hit the Smoke Stacks. I would drive to Warrensburg to Perry Fosters at one time, (Great Q) but that whole being shut down by the health department a few times turned me off of that place.
