Most Impressive Play In Chiefs History
After the "most pathetic play" thread (which I still believe I won), it's time for us to examine the most impressive feats Chiefs players have committed on the field.
Now keep in mind: this is not a discussion of significant plays, i.e. merely good plays that won us games, or 50-yard kicks that won us games, etc. I don't care about the result of the games, or the season. And while Derrick Thomas' 7 sacks in a game is one of the most outstanding achievements in sports, it's 7 separate plays. This thread is about one play. All I care about is the most physically and/or mentally spectacular play you have seen a Chief perform that blew your goddamn socks off. I can't name one for this. I have seen quite a few. The Dante Hall ultra-juke against the Donkeys is probably the most physically impressive I've seen. Derrick Johnson's rodeo-sack of Ben Roethlisberger was A-MAZING. Johnathan Baldwin catching the ball behind Dawkin's back was re-****ing-diculous. That's such a ridiculous play you can't even do that on video games. Tony Gonzalez once caught a ball across the middle against the Chargers back when Huard was QB, I think it was 2006, and dragged five Chargers about twenty yards before finally going down. Beat those. |

I was always fond of play action pass Steve Deberg fake hand off to Christian Okoye and passes deep to Stephone Paige for a touchdown. Thing of beauty. Most of the time would fake out the cameraman lol.

Any and every sack Derrick Thomas had on John Elway.

Thank you. I had been scrolling through this thread asking with increasing dismay thinking 'does no one remember DT's called safety?'

This
Best final quarter I have seen from the Chiefs. It was great to see Montana beat Elway at his own game in Denver!!! That catch by Willie Davis was a thing of beauty! |

There are a lot of great plays here, but many of them are great in part because of their significance. If we take the importance of the play out of the equation, some that I would add include:
The hit Leslie O'Neal put on Jeff George, which actually knocked the wind out of me as a viewer. Brutal, just brutal. I doubt anyone remembers it, but Duane Clemons clobbered Steve McNair in legendary fashion once when McNair took off running. The hit broke McNair's sternum and made him actually consider retirement. http://nashvillecitypaper.com/conten...young-maturing At the crux of Young’s on-field issues last year was his apparent refusal to re-enter the season opener against Jacksonville just before suffering a knee injury. McNair himself admits to having his own premature retirement thoughts back in 2000 after a hit from Kansas City’s Duane Clemons broke his sternum, an injury that would eventually require surgery to fix years later. “I think we all go through difficult times in our lives. I can remember the time when I got hit by Clemons of Kansas City and broke my sternum, and I called my agent and I told him I was ready to retire,” McNair said. “We all go through that. It’s just a part of life and a part of growing up. The thing that Vince has got to do is counteract and come back with a clear head, and say, ‘This is what I do. This is my profession’ and come back and play well. And I’m quite sure he will.”

I'll also mention Tony Richardson's block on one of Priest's recordsetting touchdowns. I think it was against Chicago and gave Priest the single-season record or some such thing. Richardson made a block out in space and then, while falling, pivoted and backed into a second tackler so Priest could saunter in untouched.

Wish I could find a vid of Eddie Kennison's one-handed grab against Jacksonville about, 7 years ago? Streaking down the sideline with an overthrown ball, ole Eddie reached out and snagged it. EK also had the game winning OT catch against Green Bay back in '03 IIRC? |

The Moeaki catch a couple years ago was damn good.
The Dante Hall kick return in the playoffs in '03 was awesome to me just because of the situation.

Yeah me too. That is up there with Babe Ruth calling his homerun IMO.

Jason Dunn has a hell of a block at the 2:27 mark.
