Smith with pressure all around him. Throws off balance with a loft that gets picked off by Joe Mays. In a game it would have been a sack.

no tackling or full hits

They still hand fight and push each other around. Oline and Dline still fight each other. Secondary can still jam and push WR off their routes, they just don't tackle them.

As far as i know anyway

Regarding backup QBs today....

Herbie Teope‏@HerbieTeope·4m
@mr_tomahawk Hard to say today, all over map. INT followed by nice pass followed by PBU follwed by TD. Seemed a theme today from backups.

Here are some observations from practice No. 9 of the Chiefs’ organized team activities:

Slot receiver Weston Dressler made the Derrick Thomas Memorial Play of the Day when he juked third-round cornerback Phillip Gaines out of his shoes and beat him deep on a go route. The throw from quarterback Chase Daniel was on the money, too. Unfortunately for Dressler, he missed most of the practice because of a hamstring injury.

Running back Jamaal Charles was excused for personal reasons. Knile Davis was the main replacement at first-team running back.

Quarterback Alex Smith was decisive and accurate, and had a run of pinpoint passes. I knew he was going to have a good day early in the practice when he looked right on one play, then scanned the field and found his third or fourth option (Frankie Hammond) streaking down the numbers. They connected for a long touchdown.

With Junior Hemingway and Weston Dressler injured, Hammond got a lot of work with the first team in the slot.

One of Smith’s best throws came when he threw it up to receiver Dwayne Bowe along the right sideline. Bowe was covered but the corner didn’t turn his head, and Bowe managed to make the catch. It was the perfect example of the burgeoning faith Smith is beginning to have in his No. 1 receiver.

By the way, it was another great practice for Bowe, who also caught a contested ball over cornerback Ron Parker from Smith later on. Parker was all over him, too.

Linebacker Joe Mays did get a pick off Smith, however. Smith threw it right to him downfield in coverage.

Quarterback Aaron Murray scrambled once. He looked pretty good on the move, despite the knee brace.

Cornerback Sean Smith, who is still on second team following his DUI arrest on Monday morning, had a couple of splash plays. One came off a deflection on a pass by Chase Daniel, which he picked off. The other came when Tyler Bray stared down his receiver on an out route and Smith stepped right in front for an interception near the sideline.

Tight end Demetrius Harris dropped a catchable ball earlier in the practice, but made up for it with a diving catch near the numbers.

The Chiefs often play music during practice to living things up, so kudos to whoever put the playlist together for inserting Mike Jones’ “Back Then” into the mix. Hilarious.

Receiver Donnie Avery made a couple of nice catches in stride.

Parker is still running with the ones at right cornerback, while safety Malcolm Bronson is playing nickel cornerback.

Bray connected with receiver Darryl Surgent on a gorgeous deep ball. Parker had the coverage on Surgent but stopped running when the ball was in the air. Call that blown coverage.

Safety Eric Berry made a play in single-high coverage when he ranged over near the sideline and swatted a pass away from the intended receiver. But to be fair, quarterback Aaron Murray held the ball too long and stared down the receiver.

Murray, however, bounced back with a great throw on an out route to former Mizzou receiver Jerrell Jackson that sailed just over Bronson’s outstretched fingertips.

As always, right guard Rishaw Johnson and right tackle Jeff Linkenbach were the initial starters with the first team but right guard Zach Fulton and right tackle J’Marcus Webb worked in, too.

Defensive tackle Dontari Poe showed some athleticism by swatting down a pass at the line of scrimmage.

Rookie left guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif worked in with the second team.

Former BYU safety Daniel Sorensen stepped in front of a short pass from Daniel and took it back for what would have been a touchdown in an actual game.

Danny parkins was talking about gretz piece today, he said Poe lined up on offense today at the goal line. Weird not to see anyone else saying anything. Parkins did ask Catapano and he talked about it so it did happen.

edit: nvm see it listed at the end of the piece from yesterday on the previous page.
