Cash bar or foot the bill? Wedding poll
So we're attending a wedding in STL in a few weeks, and instead of footing the bill themselves, it's a cash bar.

What are your thoughts on this?

I kinda think if youre having a big fancy all weekend kinda wedding, pay for the bar tab, but I get it I guess, miney wise.

So, what say you?

Exactly. You are expecting spendy gifts and spending thousands usually on the wedding itself. I think it's poor taste to not pay a few extra thousand for those attending to have a few drinks. I've been to some free beer/wine with a paid full bar. That's totally ok IMO.

Nobody paid for anything at my wedding but only because I could afford it. These assholes are going to say no to our wedding because we chose to donate all our extra money to orphaned babies and Molly??

And this took too long to be posted.

I love get togethers. I'd probably host some myself if I were a better housekeeper and didn't have crippling insecurity related to how no one ever showed up for my birthdays as a kid for probably valid but unknown to me reasons.

But for the most part, you can't get the people you want to see at a get together without there being some sort of outstanding reason for people to make an effort to get it on their schedules and travel in excess of 3+ hours to attend.

Weddings are just about the only reason.. followed distantly by graduations.
