Chris Rainey works out for the Chiefs, runs in the low 4.3s

The Steelers drafted running back Chris Rainey in 2012. After a couple of run-ins with the law, the Steelers cut him.

He has since been ignored by all other NFL teams.

On Monday, he wasn’t. Per multiple league sources, the Chiefs worked out Rainey on Monday. Though he ran the 40-yard dash in the low 4.3s, the Chiefs have decided that they currently don’t have a spot for him.

One source said that Rainey was timed on one stopwatch at 4.29 seconds.

Other teams now may consider kicking Rainey’s tires. The only problem is that, because Rainey was accused of assaulting his girlfriend, some may be reluctant to take a chance on him, given the potential P.R. challenges.

At 4.3 seconds, it’s probably worth at least testing it out with a focus group.

Because you want to know if he belongs in your Rolodex.

If Charles or McCluster goes down, you need to replace that gamebreaking ability somehow.

What Rainey did today was put himself in a very comfortable position should we lose Charles or McCluster.
