You'd hate the non-defense parts of this team too if you had to watch them week in week out. Mizzou is always, but especially this year, a Russell Stover box of assorted masochism.

I sincerely hope this isn't true, for the sake of Lock and the sake of the team. If Mauk can't hold off a true freshman in head to head competition for the starting job, then it's on him. Pinkel should be past the point of coddling Mauk come next year.

I hate that they aren't what they should be. They are a good team with a stellar defense that carries a sub-par offense (at least the passing game). Mizzou has the ability to be scary on O, but just finds ways not to be. That's where my frustration lies.

Mizzou is 21-4 the last two seasons overall, and two of those losses were absolute choke jobs.

Arkansas has been lights out vs LSU and Ole Miss in consecutive weeks. They didn't give up a single point. Couple that with the fact that all the pressure is on Mizzou and we have a recipe for a Baggett kick.

Since the game is in Missouri that helps some. It's going to be a hell of a ride.

If they do win vs Arky who wins the West? Didn't Miss St beat Alabama? Do they hold the tiebreaker? I could see where Mizzou wins and gets left out of any playoff discussion because Mizzou.

It's hard for me to get a read on this game. Everyone hypes the Hogs run game, but I haven't been real happy with our ability to physically exert our will on actual SEC teams beyond the first scripted drive. A lot of that is our OC's inclination to abandon the run, pass in obvious or dumb situations, try to get cute, and not play to our strengths (sound familiar Chiefs fans?).

Our defense is fantastic and becoming increasingly opportunistic. Kind of similar to Ole Miss with good/bad Bo, I think a lot of this game will come down to which team makes the fewest mistakes and can effectively move the chains in obvious passing situations.

Football is really hard. Making extra points, calling the same defense you had been for the previous 54 minutes, and not blocking someone when you see the name on their jersey isn't.

No one here is expecting professional levels of execution; we're despondent about stretches of Pee Wee level incompetence.

If Miss. St. beats a shittier-by-the-week Ole Miss they're going to get to back into the playoff w/o winning their division as long as Alabama beats Auburn at home, which should happen. That's a pretty nice consolation.

How is that backing into the playoffs? Undefeated save a one score loss to Alabama is a worthy resume.
