My God. Mauk is a good QB. Sorry I compared him to a 4th round draft pick and said he'd win a lot of games for Mizzou.

I know Mizzou Fan likes to complain about Pinkel's recruiting, but ** Brantley and *** Augusta are dominating the middle of the defensive line. Not only that, but Harris is looking pretty good for a ** DE.

Josh Augusta was a 3-star recruit who had offers from a lot of major recruits. He was not an "under radar" type. There were major concerns about his grades or Missouri would have needed to fight off strong charges from Alabama and Auburn.

I don't get the Stephen McGee comparison. McGee was 6-3, 230 and was a good athlete, but he was more of a James Franklin-type athlete than Mauk. He could run over some guys and was a credible threat in the option game.

Mauk's best comparison is probably sacrilegious - a bigger Todd Reesing.

I think his arm strength is better than you give him credit for, though it isn't elite or anything. I'd rate it as above-average. He will float passes downfield occasionally, but that's not an arm strength issue.

It takes a lot of arm strength to make this throw and make it on a line like he did. If the throw hangs up, the defenders in the area have time to make a play on the ball.

Mauk threw about a 40 yard strike last year to hit a receiver in stride (I feel like it was Sasser), that went for a score. It was an absolute rocket, and I remember thinking that it may have been the most impressive throw I've ever seen a Mizzou QB make. I tried to find it on YouTube but couldn't.

I didn't get to watch most of the UCF game, but the Toledo game led me to believe that he needed to 1) lead his receivers more on his throws and 2) stop leaving the pocket when there was no pressure. It sounds like he may have been better against UCF.

Yeah, just was calling out that Augusta was not an "under-radar" type.

Brantley for sure seems to be about everything you could hope for from a guy who was offered right at signing day as a last-ditch "fill a spot" type.

Harris certainly seems to be trending that way, too. He played well on Saturday against an OL that is supposed to be pretty decent. Even against their LT, who was a highly regarded guy out of HS and had a strong 2013 season.

Must admit, I had no idea who Clarence Green was. Also, Steward needs to get healthy quickly.

I would say he had improved on both those items against UCF.

There was one throw on a play-action over the middle that was a little bit behind the receiver (which I think was White), which allowed the trailing defender to get a hand in and slap the ball out. But other than that, he did a pretty nice job leading receivers.

The throw to Sasser for his first TD, especially, was a very well-thrown ball that gave the receiver a chance to gain YAC.

Bud Sasser note: He's been better than I expected. More speed and athleticism than I realized... he's starting to look to me like the receiver I always hoped Wes Kemp would be (But with legit WR speed).
