Brazil is amazing...a top team in the world but Spain's recent dominance is simply stunning. Right now Spain can look at Brazil and with a straight face say "get on my level".

I get the idea of wanting the best of the best to play a certain whimsical style of the soccer you want to see at the top. They don't quite have that but they are amazing...and they are positive...and they do spread the ball the around.
I love that they play the game in good faith because if a negative style team were to have that kind of success it would be a crying shame. Watching Oranje in that WC Final was embarrassing. I am much more well versed in our domestic league and the ins and outs of the MLS not that I don't follow international soccer closely. With Spain its like...they are always where they need to be to pounce as soon as you give them that chance. They force you to make so many decisions...more than you would like and when you make the wrong one they smoke you. I feel like Brazil has played some pretty uninspiring ball not really in the mold of their past but they are still damn good. WCQ is going its not gonna be long till the tourney starts again. |

To me it was every year the Chiefs had home field advantage, 1st round bye & the 1st game was lost. I think there were a couple times in the last 3 decades?
Joe Cool getting his bell rung in that CG. I'm sure there's other ones' that are more important to casual fans' but these are the only ones I remember without putting a lot of thought into it.

Going into that game BUF was 5-1 but KC was 4-2. To finish the season BUF was 13-3 KC was 10-6. Two good teams...where is the upset? |

I know most of you aren't soccer fans but, the 1992 European Cup had the greatest upset of all time. The European cup is second to the world cup as far as soccer events go so it's a bigtime tournament.
In 1992 Denmark failed to qualify for the tournament. The Soviet Union collapsed and could not field a team so Denmark was first in line to take their place. Denmark's second best player's son was in the hospital with leukemia. The dude scored like 7 goals in the tournament and Denmark won the whole thing and they weren't even supposed to be there! It was amazing... There should be a movie... |
