He most likely didn't die due to the blood loss. He probably had a pulmonary embolism. It's quite common after massive blood loss for a portion of the clot to break loose.

That's how DT died.

To speculate on the case:

We know they broke in a few days ago when no one was home, left a knife on his bed, and then left. Then yesterday they come back, cut the phone lines, and shoot him.

My guess is that they broke in with the intention of shooting him when they were there in the past couple of days but he wasn't home. The previous time(s), they may have set off the alarm, so that's why they cut the phone line this time.

Where he was shot is kind of strange. Maybe they just wanted to shoot him in the groin, to send a message? Maybe having Sean Taylor running at you with a machete makes you nervous and you're not such a good shot? If they intended to kill him, you have to think that they'd have at least fired again. That's why I think maybe this was a "send a message" thing.

If he owed someone money, for instance, they wouldn't want to kill him, they'd want him to keep living because he has the means to pay up, eventually. If they wanted something from him they wouldn't want him dead.

I know people think Taylor was a thug, but from I have read he has turned his life around. Also, the man was attacked in his own home. Its not like he was out "making it rain" or anything. This is a sad day, so lets not try and twist it around to fit the image that we all, at one time, thought was Sean Taylor. RIP.

it just goes to show how short life can be, imagine being 24 years old and you're on top of the world as one of the best safeties in the game and then it's over. It's sad

Okay...driving home from work listening to Sirius 124 and now Bob Dole is starting to get pissed off.

People are calling and the hosts are agreeing that the police should have increased Taylor's protection after the previous break-in.

Sean Taylor got the same damned "increased" protection after his home was invaded as did Bob Dole. Nothing. Bob Dole doesn't even want to HEAR about this bullshit. It's a tragedy that he was shot and subsequently died. But no more of a tragedy than if Bob Dole had been shot and killed during a second invasion of his home.

And to the douchebag that mentioned the "redneck with a shotgun in Texas" earlier--Sean Taylor (and the rest of us) could only hope to have a "redneck" neighbor who cared that much.

If people want to bitch about police protection and security in our own homes, that's fine. But don't EVEN start spouting off about some poor rich man who was gifted enough to play a game on Sunday being more deserving of additional protection than the rest of us.

A good dog and gun go a long ways when it comes to protection. Hopefully they catch the guy who did it.
