Game of Thrones (spoiler-free zone)

A few have suggested it, might as well test the waters. The idea is to give people who haven't read the books a safe place to talk about the show.

A few quick ground rules:

• No Spoilers!!!!! for upcoming episodes.
• Larger Song of Ice and Fire discussion should be limited to the other thread although I think a tiny bit of book delving to fill in holes should be okay (example of this would be talking about Catelyn and her treatment of the wolves in the novel, which was alluded to on TV but never really made clear...)
• Everything that happened that week is fair game once an episode airs. So if you don't watch on Sunday night, I'd stay outta here until you do...

Just take a look at the characters who have been in the most episodes over the course of the series (Tyrion, Cersei, Jaime, Dany, Arya, Sansa, Bran, Jon Snow, Samwell, Theon). See, I don't think Bran has gotten a lot of significant screen time over someone like Margaery. Theon and Samwell likewise. Is The Hound a major character? Seems like he is, if Arya is. That's why I say it's hard.

Sure, for some characters (Tyrion, Dany, Arya, Jon Snow) that designation obviously applies more than others. I believe I read somewhere that Bran isn't involved as much in the book that this season is based on. Also definitely read that was an issue with Theon as well last season. When you're lacking in content due to the source material, it's hard to give characters like that as much screen time as we saw with S2 Jaime. Doesn't mean they aren't major characters. In any case, we're dealing in semantics here. My point was that there are quite a few multi-dimensional characters on the show who have made transformations, which is impressive considering just how many cast members there actually are.

You also seem as though you've read the books before.

I read the first book, but stopped because I didn't want it to spoil my TV viewing experience. That's also why I know who some of the POV characters are.

No spoilers but get use to it. GRR doesn't do happy endings. He will kill a main person off with no warning or build up. It's all planned. He wants it that way. He wants the reader to feel that way.

To be fair, even those who have read every book don't know yet whether it will have a happy ending or not, as he still has two more books to write.

I have not read the books, but so far in the show, people are still working on it. I think most characters want a happy ending for themselves eventually, but as far as I can figure, the only one who has gotten it so far is
