KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -
Chiefs fans are excitedly buzzing about whether team owner Clark Hunt is preparing to offer former coach Marty Schottenheimer the general manager position or get his help on reversing the team's declining fortunes.

SiriusXM NFL Radio reported that Schottenheimer was at Arrowhead Stadium on Friday to meet with Hunt, who is in Kansas City. This set Chiefs fans on Twitter and Facebook afire.

The team flatly denies that Schottenheimer was at the practice facility today.

However, left unclear was whether Schottenheimer and Hunt met at a different location, met earlier this week or whether they have a meeting later this week.

General Manager Scott Pioli is under fire after the Chiefs 1-7 start and a disappointing four-year tenure in Kansas City after he left the New England Patriots.

I will ALWAYS believe that the 2003 and 2005 chiefs would have been superbowl contenders IF HIS TEAM HAD A DEFENSE.

What QB did Vermeil want after Green was injured? This isn't arguable.

Prior to falling ass over elbows into a potential HOF QB, Vermeil was on the fast track to get run out of town. Basically, he had the Pioli blueprint for success, though Grandpa's football knowledge is more profound.

If I'm not mistaken, the only reason Green was on the team is because Martz wanted him (they worked together in Washington) after Vermeil demanded that the Rams let him keep going with Tony Banks. Vermeil wanted to promote one of his coaches to OC until the Rams stepped in and forced Martz on Vermeil. I don't think Vermeil wanted Faulk either.

It makes you wonder how Vermeil would have done if we had a GM that wasn't going to let Vermeil get away with croneyism.

Kurt Warner was never really fully healthy in STL. in the years that followed the Rams SB appearences.

I don't think his thumb fully recovered until he was benched and sat through the second half of his season with the Giants.
