and especially his work ethic. He wasn't even motivated enough to read the book that was written about him.

After watching Mack's highlight tape, I really like what a guy like that could do for our offense. I think he is a top 20 talent not accounting for positional value. I'd love to grab him with our 2.

I think KC's 2nd round pick will be one of the centers or a LB (provided KC doesn't take Curry at 3).

I just don't know if Barwin or Mack is worth 34.

Barwin has out of this world potential, but he is a huge Boom-Bust project. If we were picking around 55, I could see the risk more, but we basically have another first rounder with how high our second pick is. Someone really good is going to slip, and we'll have a hell of a player just sitting in our laps.

Ya that's exactly what I said. However when you look at how much Barwin improved in just one season I think his intelligence and drive are obvious.

And without question the only center worth the 34 is Mack. Otherwise hope Wood falls to the 3rd.

I say this based on what I've heard, regarding Wood, but can anyone find a highlight film or anything of him? I can't.

Mecca,

If Sanchez continues to slip in Wright's ratings do you think he constitutes a "reach" at the 3rd pick? For purposes of this question assume that by draft day Wright and Gosselin have Sanchez ranked as the #15 player.

because of positional value, if a QB is a top 15 talent, its not a reach regardless where you pick him, unless you pick him over a guy rated higher in the same position. A lot depends on the draft class also, these listings wont take into account where he should be picked. This soon after the combine, people over react to their performance.... mid to late March the ratings will be more in line to where they should be rated as a prospect. IMO

Positional value is different for every team.

And I wouldn't label anyone a reach based off of Wright's rankings. Not that he's not respectable, just not as qualified as Pioli & co.

True to a point, teams like NE that have an early 1st rd pick because of a trade, can forgo positional value and fill needs with BPA at that position of need. All teams will agree at which positions deserve to be paid the highest. Its why those same positions will be the ones that are picked over and over in the top 5.
