If nothing else, BB has a new toy. They can tinker with him and flip him for a marginal pick when an injury hits another team, I think he's simply playing the odds here. Low risk, low cost. They like to tinker with players and see what happens.

Perhaps I am reading this wrong or my hate for Matt Cassel is still brewing but, couldn't the Patriots have signed Cassel back if they needed a backup or someone to push Mallet? Instead they go to Tim Tebow. Does this equate to the level of SUCK that is Matt Cassel when your old, old team doesn't even want you back?

Also, this might be a good thing for Tebow. With more teams going to the pistol type offense and mobile QB's, wouldn't Tebow make a decent addition to practice against. Yea his throwing might suck but letting a defense see what happens when you don't cover correctly or the QB starts to scramble around might be a benefit.

I am no means a patriot fan but it seems like a win all around. They still have Brady so no QB controversy. Belichek won't let the Tebow Circus setup its tents and start being a distraction like the Jets did. The Patriots have something to practice against. Tebow is back with Josh McDanials so might get some actual coaching. The Pats aren't out a ton of money.

Watch what happens....I bet they put him in during preseason or at the end of the season during garbage time and he lights things up. Then some desperate team (coughjaguarscough) will think he has been fixed and give the Pats a 2nd or 3rd round pick for him. Belichek makes off like a bandit again just like he did with the Cassel trade.

Well, the Vikes signed him so Cassel isn't available. I also think they want Mallet as the #2, and if they brought in Cassel and made Cassel the #3, that would be very awkward given that Cassel was the #2 guy before and even started for the Pats when Brady was out in '08. Too awkward to bring him back now to be the #3 guy.

That is quite literally the best use yet for the guy that I have seen/heard/read. Nothing else makes much sense. QB? Yeah, we're going to take Tom ****ing Brady off the field to let Captain Crooked fling it around. TE? He runs a 4.7. That's SLOW. Special Teams? Yeah, ok, maybe, but he's not a superstud on STs, and you can only have a few guys on your roster that are ST-only one-trick ponies. He's not a specialist...

This place is ****ing hilarious. You all are freaking out about how people all freak out about Tebow.

Here's the situation, plain and simple: absolutely no risk. A two-year contract with no guaranteed money. If it works out, great. If it doesn't, whatever.

Belichick has always appreciated and liked Tim Tebow. He also had always appreciated and liked Chad Johnson. He also had always appreciated and liked Randy Moss. Darth Hoodie has one object in mind: improve the team, and get as much as he can out of someone before wiping his dick on the sheet, slapping a 20 on the bureau, and telling them they have five minutes to wash off and get the **** out.

Belichick did not bring Tebow in to be the starter. He didn't bring him in to be the backup. He didn't bring him in to use on short yardage (he's not taking one of the best QBs in the history of the NFL out of the game for a gimmick player on the goal line). He didn't bring him in to convert him to a tight end. He brought him in for one simple reason: to see if Tebow can play QB and maybe make the team as the third QB.

If Tebow makes the team as the third QB, good for him. If Belichick then tells Tebow to get his ass on the field for the occasional special teams play or sub as a TE, good for him. He MIGHT even use Tebow once or twice on the goal line, IF Brady is hobbled or something. That's. It.

No one can forecast the NFL season. Brady could get popped in Game One again and Tebow could suddenly be the backup. Or maybe Tebow shows enough to let the Pats trade Ryan Mallett in the coming offseason, who knows. Again, no risk, all reward. If Tebow sucks like a Filipino hooker then he joins the ranks of Albert Haynesworth and the other retreads who didn't work out in New England.

This is the absolute best situation for Tebow. He gets a chance to be a QB again, because if Belichick and Brady can't do it then no one can. It's not Tebow's last chance, but it's definitely his best chance.

As for the media circus, not only does Belichick not give a ****, he probably actually enjoys it. For every minute the media is circling Tebow, it's one less minute they're circling Brady asking him how upset he was that Welker left, or circling Gronk and asking him if he's injury-prone and if his off-field antics are too much. Belichick loves when the media ignores the Patriots and, paradoxically, this will actually make them ignore the Patriots as a team because the entire sports media world will be whacking off during Tebow talk.

Most actual fans realize Tebow probably won't make any impact on the field. If he does, it'll only be because things have gone in the shitter. But if that happens, who's a better possible third-string QB? Tebow, under the guidance of Belichick and Brady and surrounded by a ton of talent, or whatever schmuck the Pats could throw out there? As for the pink-hatters and religious nuts, who cares if they all get stiffies over Tebow being in New England. As long as Tebow shuts his yap and talks nothing but football he'll be fine.

I really don't even think BB likes Tebow. Like Florio said last night, this could just be a favor to McDaniels and Urban Meyer.

BB is already getting annoyed with the Tebow coverage less than 12 hrs after signing him

Belichick on Tebow questions: We’ve talked enough about him
Posted by Michael David Smith on June 11, 2013, 10:57 AM EDT

Patriots coach Bill Belichick met the media for the first time with Tim Tebow on his roster, and it didn’t take long for Belichick to get sick of answering questions about his new backup quarterback.

“Anything we do is what we feel is in the best interest of the team. Tim is a talented player that’s smart and works hard, so we’ll see how it goes,” Belichick said when initially asked about Tebow.

As reporters continued to press him for thoughts about Tebow, Belichick began to grow annoyed.

“I’ve answered that question twice: He’s a talented player who’s smart and works hard,” Belichick repeated.

Asked more questions about Tebow, Belichick urged reporters to find something new to talk about.

“We’ve already talked enough about him,” Belichick said. “I think I’ve covered it. Anything else?”

Some of the questions from the media were about the media, including whether Belichick thought the presence of reporters at this week’s minicamp could become a distraction.

“We’ve been in front of bigger crowds than this before,” Belichick said. “Hopefully there will be more than that on our games on Sundays.”

Asked about how Tebow will be used, Belichick declined to get into specifics.

“We’re gonna do what we think is best for this football team, so, I don’t know, we’ll see,” Belichick said. “We’ll see, I don’t know.”

Belichick did dispute the report that he “hates” Tebow as a player, although he made clear that he didn’t want to talk much about that.

“I like Tim. I have a lot of respect for Tim,” Belichick said.

Belichick may like Tebow. But Belichick doesn’t seem to like all the questions about Tebow.
