If the Chiefs go 8-8 or better 49ers get a 2nd round pick.

A third- or second-rounder from Kansas City, the remnant of the Alex Smith deal. Now it can be told: The second draft choice San Francisco will receive from the Smith deal will be K.C.'s second-rounder in 2014 if the Chiefs go 8-8 or better this season. It will be a third-rounder in 2014 if Kansas City is under .500 this season.

So: San Francisco will probably have first-, second- and four third-rounders next year. But if the Chiefs surprise, it'll more likely be a one, two twos and three threes. As we've seen, GM Trent Baalke is dangerous with extra picks in his hands. If Colin Kaepernick is very good, the Niners should be annual contenders for years with the picks laid out that way.

if you have noticed, i proudly wear the Alex Fan club moniker. i dont have a problem with him being the leader of the kaep fan club. i just like to point out while he is pointing and laughing at me, that hes doing the same thing. Its called Irony.

Im proudly in the Alex Smith Fan camp. For a while on the niners board, i Ran the ABA. Anybody but alex, which kaepernick was a proud member of. There is nothing wrong with having a favorite player.

he should support kaep. He loves him, he likes the way he plays. i dont make fun of him for it. its legit....

Same here - it looked like 5 yards too much, way over the open receiver...

Ive never seen a more accurate thrower when he has to throw hard, but he lacks touch, and really struggles with short passes......he just needs work.

His arm is so incredible,, that he doesnt or didnt ever learn to throw short with touch and accuracy. just needs more throws.

The Chiefs aren't going to use the same blueprint as the 9ers, offensively. That is, if Andy Reids past is any indication, they aren't going to be a power run ball control offensive philosophical team. I'm a pretty firm believer that coaches don't change that much, if at all. Eventually, they are what they've always been.

IMO, thats why some here are upset about Smith. He was/is at his best the last 2 years when that has been the gameplan (Martyball, power game, whatever you want to call it).

We don't know what he will be in a pass first aerial offense like Reid will run. He seems to have the accuracy and decision making skillsets, but thats basically all we have to go on at this point.

IIRC, which I'm not saying I do, that wasn't a fade, but a backshoulder throw.

I dont recall saying anything about how he plays qb. I think i mentioned things like no ego, meaning he has no problem checking to a run play, i think i mentioned hes a team first guy. I dont recall sayiing i love the way he plays qb.

no, i dont particularly care for the sacks he takes, his reluctance until his last 5 quarters as a starter for the niners to take any risks at all, i didnt like the way he couldnt see a wide open randy moss against the seahawks on monday night.

so no, there is a lot more that Alex smith needs to do before i love watching him play football.

It is just more of his wild assumptions. The niners lost Not because Super kape choked but it was because the ravens d was so good and there really was just no hope at all to win. Oh and there was Not even a play that could be called to win the game-even though other QBs seem to pull out the win in the same exact situation. Hell I thought Most teams Practiced goal line situations-LOL But evidently the 9ers don't.

I enjoy your posts about Smith, I like to know more about our new QB.

But this is something you don't seem to be understanding. The Chiefs aren't going to be a ball control smash mouth team, philosophically speaking, like the 9ers.

If Reids history is any indication of the future, he's going to throw it about 35 times per game.

It's on Smith at this point. He's going to have to shoulder the load.
