Kansas City Chiefs are 6-0, but their luck is about to run out

Quote:
The Guardian.com

The Kansas City Chiefs are the biggest (positive) surprise of this still (relatively) young NFL season. Led by new head coach Andy Reid, the Arrowhead natives are 6-0 and have only won one game by less than two scores. They are almost certainly heading towards the playoffs on the strength of their defense. Yet, the Chiefs may end up packing their bags earlier than you might think.

Why?

1. The Chiefs offense is a big ball of meh
Discus.

His reasoning is solid, but his conclusion is likely flawed. This defense is ridiculous. If Trent Dilfer could do it, so can Alex Smith. Besides, we still have JC.

I am sorry, but it is hilarious to me that people cite our schedule going forward as a reason to worry. Yes, we play the Broncos twice.
But seriously?

Texans/Browns/Bills/Broncos/Chargers/Broncos/Redskins/Raiders/Colts/Chargers

Which of these teams, outside of the broncos, is lighting the world on fire? The rest of our schedule is currently 32-27 and that includes the 12 wins from the Broncos.

No you're not, you're waiting for the team to lose so you can bitch about Alex Smith and why they didn't take Geno over him. Be real.

So he points out the offense. Yes, we all agree that it's garbage, but it will get better as they get comfortable in the brand new offense/QB and coaching staff. WE hope that Fisher will get better along with the rest of the young line. We'll get better with a healthy TE.

Then he points out the schedule. No shit it's an easy schedule, and it will remain that way. It's roughly the same as the bronco's who have people salivating at.

But then he talks about how hard our remaining schedule compared to the broncos. Did this guy even look at the schedules?? They have one more road game. They play INDY and NE away, where we have Indy at home. They are also playing Houston late and Schaub will be back and they have the talent to beat Denver. We get Houston next week in crisis mode with a 3rd string QB starting. We have to go to Washington, but that game is winnable as they stink this year.

I have my concerns for the offense, plenty of reasons to. But, I think playcalling is our biggest protagonist right now for that pessimism. The O has dug out of a few corners, but the D has given a lot of relief to any situation too. We've yet to encounter an offense that hasn't let the D close out the game. I'm good with that continuing, but sooner or later the team is going to call on the offense to do more. That will be telling about our chances to be really dangerous.

I'm looking forwad to how his team handles loss and how they handle the broncos. But until then, I'm going to enjoy the ride.

Alex Smith is hated on because he's the hero the Chiefs deserve, but not the one they need right now...and so we'll hunt him, because he can take it. Because he's not a hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector...a dark smelly turd.
