Really hard not to like Matt Cassel.

I can't help it. He is everything I like in a quarterback other than his inability to be consistently really, really good.

Kind of a ****ed up thing to say. But he's such a good representative for this team. He blocks when run plays swing around, and blocks really, really enthusiastically for a QB. He sticks up for all his teammates, and has never thrown them under a bus. He's got occasional throws when his protection is strong that do genuinely look like brilliant darts into the chest of a receiver.

He's not a drama queen, doesn't crave attention. Gives his time up for charity, married to a camera shy college sweetheart who as it turns out is the leggiest brunette this side of the Atlantic.

He's really fiery, even having that awesome exchange of words with Haley last year. He'll get in a fight, even a physical fight for the guys in red. He ****s around with his teammates on the sidelines and knows the playbook like a mother****er.

Sure, he's got the beta-male thing going on, but he's not flawless.

And we all know it: if Matt Cassel was even a pretty good Pro Bowl talent, he'd be your favorite Chief.

At 4:50, and at 5:14, two examples of Cassel putting his body out there for a teammate, in this case Jamaal Charles.

Seriously, folks. He's done nothing wrong but work his ass off for this team, do everything it takes to win, and be physically limited in what he can do.

He was one of the reasons Baldwin was able to turn it around decently last year. Cassel and Baldwin were BFFs in the preseason, and when the whole locker room could have turned on Baldwin after the Thomas Jones debacle, I'm willing to bet the first thing Cassel did in Baldwin's first practice back was throw him the ball. Cassel might have been the life saver around Baldwin's locker room rep.

I can understand being frustrated with Cassel. I know you all are too. But there is no reason to do anything but just hope the guy gets better.

Stop rooting for injury. Stop calling him an asshole.

Because he's a really ****ing good dude, and a decent quarterback. He's been good to this franchise in a lot of ways, and if he was better on the field you guys wouldn't be able to stop sucking him off.

We're all hoping Stanzi gets a shot this year, and I've been consistently mocking QBs to the Chiefs in round 1 next year.

But get your head on straight. Root for Matt Cassel.

I'm saying that a win by the Chiefs in the playoffs, should it happen, would not be because of Cassel.

No, there is no chance.

Matt Cassel is 1-9 against playoff teams as our QB.

He is not going to beat anyone in the playoffs. Ever.

And he is never going to approach that record, because 2010 is going to be THE statistical outlier for his career.

We probably won't even make the playoffs. He sucks against good teams. We play alot of 'em.

Tony Gonzalez was a douche in person, but I loved him nevertheless and I ****ing hate D-bags. Cassel is an overpaid, piece of crap at QB that's entitled to his position because he gives pioli the best blow jobs.

Don't you have to be really, really good once before you can ever talk about being consistent? His best game as a Chief stat wise was probably the game against Denver in Denver a couple of years ago. 400 yards and 4 TD's, 0 INT's. Pretty good numbers. One small problem... we were down 35-0 before he made a mark in the game.

And in games where he has 3 INT's and right around 100 yards, he tells the press he graded out perfect.

Once in a while you kick out some really good threads that make a guy step back and think about things.

This ain't one of them.

Have you ever been able to prove that Cassel sticks up for his teammates, Direckshun?

When has he ever taken a bullet for the team? When has he ever said, "It was my fault" when we lost on a stupid fumble or missed assignment on defense? When Robert E Lee got trounced at Gettysburg, did he say to his men, "Guys, we all need to do a better job. We can't win this war without each other, so everybody needs to try harder and work harder."

Do you have any evidence for this Baldwin story? I've heard not one single report about this bullshit.

One need only look to his bullshit when the going gets tough. Throw 4 INTs and are the main goat of a crap loss? "I graded out perfectly." Put up YPG averages worse than JaMarcus Russell for a season and shit your pants against Tim Tebow and Matt Moore? "To be honest when you talk about Peyton Manning and Philip Rivers, I feel like I'm already there." Get even a LIIIITTLE bit of criticism placed on you by a reporter for the team's shortcomings? "This is a team game, and we win and lose as a team."

Some leader. If he were a military officer, his guys would have mutinied on his ass a loooong time ago

I was officially OFF the Matt Cassel super-fun, action-packed, happy bandwagon when he shit himself in back-to-back games against the Dolphins and Broncos at home last season. The Chiefs battled back from an 0-3 hole to 4-3 and then he lays those two stink bombs.

That said, he's still the Chiefs quarterback and I'll hope he does well along with any other Chiefs player. I'm not so full of spite to the point that I want the team to suffer just to oust the QB. I still want KC to do well this season to the chagrin of many on this board...

...but yeah, I'm all for Stanzi getting a look. I'm more amped for this preseason than any in recent memory simply because of that.

I don't know Matt Cassel. I've never met Matt Cassel. In all honesty, I have no desire or intention to ever meet Matt Cassel.

All that I know about Matt Cassel comes from watching the Chiefs on Sunday and reading his quotes in the press. Those two factors alone give me an infinite amount of reasons to dislike Matt Cassel.
