John Madden Mentions The Pats And The Chiefs As Teams That Could Beat The Broncos

I know, I know. Madden could very well be senile. I haven't heard him speak in quite a while so take this with a grain of salt.

On Wednesday, John Madden spoke on his SiriusXM radio show, “Madden Football,” about Peyton Manning and the Broncos. Here’s a brief, pared-down transcript of Madden’s comments:

Madden: “I’ve been in this league for a long time, and it’s just a quarter of a season, four games, and I don’t know, in the history of the game, if a quarterback has ever played the game better for one quarter of a season. Now you don’t get awards for that, and it doesn’t mean a whole heck of a lot, but I don’t know, I can’t … remember anyone having a quarter of the season, or four games, like Peyton Manning’s had.”

Co-host Adam Schein: “Can anybody beat Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos?”

Madden: “I think it is going to be tough. The way they are playing right now, I don’t see it. If they had to play — and it would be real interesting — if they had to play in Seattle I would say that would be a tough one. But the only way that they would play Seattle is in the Super Bowl, and then that’s not up there at their place. I can’t see anyone. The closest team would be getting in a shootout with Tom Brady; that would probably be a possibility. Kansas City (is a possibility) if they can keep the score down, but you can’t keep the score down, what the heck am I talking about? The only thing I can see is Tom Brady getting some players back, getting in a shootout and beating them.”

I know you guys feel like you get ignored by the national media, but you're getting positive attention, even if it is from a crazy-**** old Raider.

Going through Madden quotes feels like sifting through entrails to divine the future. You have to wonder how many of the synapses are still firing off. But the guy has a tremendous amount of football knowledge crammed into that head of his. You just have to look behind the blooming onions, the foot spray and Brett Favre's penis.

You could say the same for Rodgers.

The only way this would be possible, is if we had almost everybody healthy, we were 9-0, and coming off a bye.

You can make an arguement for a handful of guys including Brady. I'd have trouble picking a number 1 so I would say that anyone backing one of those guys is reasonable.

Joe Montana was amazing i'm not saying he isn't one of the greatest. He is clutch in the playoffs, but so is Brady. That's all I am saying and I think we have the D that can slow down Denver. He isn't going to be throwing it this many times when it starts to get colder. Which means he will have to rely on his running game. I don't think Madden is far off here I am have been saying this for a couple weeks. I think we can beat Denver!

Payton, so far this year, has had the luxury of 3 out of 4 home games. I'm interested to see what kind of numbers he is going to put up as more away games are played in hostile environments.

The chiefs if they play perfect football could beat them. You just need to go man and get pressure. Hide the formation and sub quicker. Fake injuries when they want to go go no huddle. Then get our running game going to eat the clock.

But then you have to do it.

You don't have to get in a shootout if you hit the QB like they have been.
