TDs as a metric for QB performance is poor anyways
What is a good metric to use?

Nope. 2-3 in his last five throws that option out the window.

If Houston doesn't go down, we are probably 13-1.

Dunno about that, I do think we probably beat San Diego though.

Ah, good call. But I'm sticking with QB Rating.

You can play like absolute ass, and as long as you don't turn the ball over, your rating doesn't suffer.

Otherwise known as the "Cassel v. Philadelphia Phenomenon, 2009".

Wild speculation.

The defense was struggling well before he got hurt.

You're basically giving more weight to the quarter and some change the defense played against SD, and ignoring Keenum, Campbell and Tuel chewing us up.

If you want to play the speculation game, how about, "if we hadn't faced a run of 3rd and 4th string QB's, we would have been 6-3 at the bye"?

ESPN's QB rating formula still doesn't think much of Alex's season. He is #20 on it.

I think Denver was able to open up their playbook a little knowing they will have more time for plays to develop. With Houston, I don't think they would have been able to attack deep like they did.

Take away the handful of deep passes in that game and the outcome is different and we only lost by 7.

You are right. Because I don't find them nearly as annoying as you guys who are constantly trashing your own team and putting limits on what we can do.

If a QB drives the ball 80 yards but a running back comes in and runs the ball a yard he doesn't credit for the TD. If JC gets 70 YAC, the QB still gets credit for the TD. Those are extreme cases but systematically:

(a) a WCO vs a more vertical passing attack game will yield less TD's for the QB.
(b) a ball control team will yield less TD's for the QB. Basically, pace is slower and points are more valuable
(c) a team that wins by establishing early leads will yield less TD's

Sound familiar? (a), (b), (c) pretty much describes Jim Harbaugh's offense so it's not surprising to me he had low TD's before.

And it's not surprising to me that his TD numbers have gone up but are not lead leaguing. Reid's offense is more aggressive but we still have a phenomenal back and a good defense.

A QB with high TD numbers is going to be somebody who plays on team like the Cowboys. Stacked with talent at the passing end, piss poor on defense. They have to score, and continue to score, to win. And don't have a back like JC or Frank Gore to close games.
