OK, tidbits from the show....
Bruce Bouillet is a member of Paul Gilbert's touring band - Bruce was a student of Paul's at MI, and also a member of Racer X. A few of us close to the action noticed Bruce's right wrist... he was wearing an Oakland Raiders wristband. but that cat kept up with Paul, and they played very nice harmony's together. Caught a pick - he plays Jim Dunlop Nylon .88 mm's. Playing keyboards for Paul was his wife Amy. Petrucci came out with Satriani's bass player from Satch's last KC gig, Dave LaRue... the big surprise was who came out to play drums - PORTNOY! Wife really liked Petrucci, so I figure that my lifelong goal of turning my wife into a prog/neo-classical fan is working like a slow-motion jedi mind trick. Joe was awesome, "Crowd Chant" really got the crowd going. Joe closed with "Always with You, Always with Me", and stretched it out, then Petrucci came out and riffed over the top, then Gilbert did the same. The G3 Jam featured two Jimi Hendrix songs, "Foxy Lady" then "Purple Haze", with Gilbert doing the singing. Gilbert is a pretty good singer. To close the show, they played "Jumpin' Jack Flash" and tore the house down. Paul (6'4") is alot taller than Joe, John, and the bass player. Concert started around 8:15, ended around 11:45.
