2007: LJ could be out a while. Possible long term injury?

Consider this a rumor.
Again I'm not saying this is fact but someone who has told me medical "stuff" about Chiefs players in the past and it has turned out to be true told me this.

LJ has a garden variety sprained ankle but thats not worrying the Chiefs or LJ.

They think its his foot thats is the real concern and specifically worst case scenerio Plantar Fasciitis or a pulled ligment in the foot. It happened when LJ tryed to pull on his foot when it was under Hawk and stretched that muscle on the bottom of his foot and in the arch. It could take 3-4 weeks of rest or in rare cases to a year to recover. But until the swelling goes down they won't know for sure.

Again just FYI passing it along.

To LJ: Stay down bitch.

This will help Herm and his cast of idiots realize that without running game to control clock and tempo of game (which they have stunk at anyway) they need an excellent passing attack. Time for the Croyle experiment. The last 8 games of this season be damned and who cares. It is time to test the QBOTF.

However, Priest could emerge and prove Herm's approach is good. Can you see defenses not respecting Holmes and not stacking the box? Yup, only if the passing game is a threat. So far........NOT.

MRI results will be known this afternoon. Herm doesn't know chit other than LJ has a sore foot. But thats not really a reflection on Herm. He and the Chiefs doctors can't read an MRI nor should they try to read one. They can be tricky especially foot MRI's. The MRI will tell them if there is a tear, somethings torn and or how bad it is. Maybe.

The issue I'm told is that there could be something torn underneath the swelling and the MRI can't pick it up until the swelling goes down. Thats when they will know if its the lisfranc injury or not.

Thanks for the update, Mr. BigRedChief. I can't help but wonder about the term "abnormal" in this case.

Perhaps LJ's foot is mutating into a superweapon...that's abnormal. He'll use it to blow holes in the defensive line since his OL can't seem to do it.

Quite possible, Mr. GoChiefs.

There have only been two known SuperFeet since the universe began. This would be the third SuperFoot. Or, the first SuperYard.

Abnormal means that it wasn't a normal scan of a foot. That there was something wrong with the foot in the MRI scan results. They(my contact) didn't know how serious or how "abnormal" it was. Sorry. Thats all I got. The Chiefs as you can imagine could trace back info to my contact and get them in trouble if more details were released.

Got a reply email from my contact and LJ defintely has a broken bone in his foot and is more likely done for the year other than 3-4 weeks recovery time.

They are getting 2nd and 3rd opinions right now on how "broken" the bone is which is why the Chiefs haven't said anything yet. Other than their PR press release this am saying they know nothing about a possible broken bone in LJ's foot. What a bunch of crap.

It depends on how "broken" the bone is on length of recovery time. I guess some Doctors disagreed on the severity of the "broke" bone in his right foot. Which is why there are 2nd and 3rd opinions being gathered now.

The one thing that I find inconsistent in this deal is that if it is a broken bone why didn't the X-Ray pick it up? I've asked my contact about it and not recieved a reply.

Kansas City Chief Larry Johnson Out for Season
Last Edited: Tuesday, 06 Nov 2007, 2:19 PM MST Created: Tuesday, 06 Nov 2007, 2:19 PM MST
KANSAS CITY -- Kansas City Chiefs running back Larry Johnson is out for the season. This was confirmed by a source within the Chiefs organization with direct knowledge of the situation.
According to the Chiefs initially, Johnson had suffered a mid-foot sprain in the fourth quarter of last Sunday's 33-22 loss to the Packers.
However Anderson has learned that Johnson has a broken bone in the left foot.
So far this season Johnson has rushed 158 times for 559 yards.
That total has had Johnson ranked 14th in the league-just behind Travis Henry who’s 13th with 580 yards.
While this injury is bad news for Johnson, it’s a bright spot for the Broncos who’s last ranked rush defense who won’t have to face him.

It's his right foot not the left one so that raises doubts for me about this story.

X-Rays don't always pickup hairline or stress fractures. You also only get a 2D view so you do not always see what can bee seen on an MRI.

Thanks for the clarification. I did not get to see the game, so I was unaware of the exact details of the injury.
