Chiefs defense one of the best in the league

Chiefs D is giving up 5th least PPG while facing Rivers, Manning, Brady, Kaepernick. Thats with missing a lot of key players.

WTF? Guy just gave props to the D - what are you talking about? Why do people keep trying to bring Smith into a thread talking about the Defense?

I too thought the D played great yesterday. Especially the pass rush. Looked like Rivers was uncomfortable all game. Really solid effort. Honestly, after the Indy game, I wouldn't have been sad to see Sutton go, but he has really done well this year especially given all of the injuries. Even in the losses (Titans game notwithstanding) the defense has played stout football against really good teams. Tip of the cap to Sutton and the D.

I would say that's not a recipe for success with KC receivers. We just don't have the receivers to lean on them the way Reid want's to. Smith can throw accurately all game long. He's not going to throw deep a ton. Just isn't... but he can pick teams apart all game if he has decent play from his receivers.

The other interesting thing is, if I were to guess, I bet we're in the top 3rd of the league in red zone efficiency, if not higher

So we're complaining about receivers not getting touchdowns even though we've been efficient in the red zone all year

Sometimes complaining has merit...these are not one of those times

I don't care about the pointing to his jersey. I don't care about a couple of drops, the thing I can't stand about Bowe is the lack of effort he shows on some plays. You give everything you've got and drop a pass - no worries. You "phone it in" and drop a pass... Get the **** out.

Accurately?

Like throwing behind his WRs on slants? He does that shit consistently.

I guess I don't know what I'm watching, then...because I'm not particularly some huge Dwayne Bowe fan or anything...but I've never seen anything but a good teammate / good effort football player...he blocks well, etc

He's a solid NFL receiver and, more importantly, a team first guy at a me first position.

The hate flung at the guy because he makes money is ridiculous. He's a solid, forgettable Chief.

Didn't you see Jerry McGuire? The chest pounding stuff is how you get them to "show you the money".

Was pleasantly surprised after the row of QBs we've faced that we're:

#2 against the pass.

#3 on third-down conversions allowed.

#7 in points allowed per game.

#6 in sacks per game.

#3 in touchdowns allowed.

Only place we're really sucking is in creating turnovers and rush defense (now 18th).

If you back out that abortion of a first game against the Titans it gets even better...

Yeah, the defense has looked strangely good without its two most important players. Not sure what to make of that.

Maybe we'd have won the Superbowl last season without Kendrick Lewis and Quentin Demps.

I don't want to sound like an Alex hater, but I didn't think he was very accurate yesterday. The receivers had to frequently twist around awkwardly to catch the passes. On the pass to Wilson, even though he was wide open, he had to go to a knee to get the ball, which cost him yards (still had a nice spin move to pick up a first down, iirc).

Not every pass, of course, but quite a few of them.
