Madden '17

Anyone getting a little excited? Seems like they have really made an effort this year.

Franchise mode is getting an overhaul according to recent news:

1. Full player editing while your franchise is progressing.

2. Coaching/FO decisions.

3. In-game ticker with live updates.

4. Practice squads.

5. New commentary team that will actually talk about things happening in your franchise.

6. Draft has been tweaked with more busts/gems.

Gameplay improvements:

1. Zone Coverage overhaul.

2. New ball-carrier special moves.

3. Real gap control on defense.

4. Real ball physics. In the past the ball would tether to a player based on ratings.

They also overhauled kicking to make it a challenge now. There's a new three-click system and weather/location will play a factor. Also, apparently on clutch kicks if the opponent "freezes" the kicker by calling a timeout the kicking meter will disappear and you have to make the kick by muscle memory. Kicks and punts can also be blocked.

How badly all of this shit is ****ed up on release remains to be seen but it does seem like they are making a big effort.

I especially like how everyone stood there and stared at your RB while he wrestled with the DB for a couple of seconds. Nah, no need to get in on the tackle #79....you just hang out for a bit and let Clay think he's actually good at something.

Nicely done. Tell me more about how often a guy runs a simple slant route and then houses it for 98 because evidently the entire defense has never run an angle of pursuit drill. Totally realistic stuff right there. Lots of single high safeties go running straight at where the receiver was while the ball is in the air. Great work.

I've increased CPU accuracy to 25. If the 67 OVR QB I'm facing in the next game completes 80 percent of his passes, it's going back down.

FYI Green Bay's defense is trash and I BARELY scored 30 points in that game so I don't want to hear whining when All-Pro skill players do All-Pro things.

Might as well do a BPA with my third 1st round pick. BEAST!

Free agency recap (backup QB, replacement center, Houston's sub/replacement):

UDFA beast RB I happened upon. Gonna turn him into Bo Jackson II.

So you took a guy ranked #16 at #3 and you have the nerve to act like you hate Scott pioli?

He's already 85 OVR two games into his rookie season. It was a great pick.

Just got a slider set from operation sports. It's based on all-pro, but the sliders themselves make for a nice challenge. I only completed like 51% of my passes with Eli for 250 or so yards, so no repeat of my 615 yard performance from last night. Won my last warm up game before I start my franchise. Won 27-24 as the Giants vs. Washington. OBJ is a pretty cool weapon in this game .

Time to start my road to losing in the first round of the playoffs with the Chuefs .

The game plays great at times, but the 2 or 3 times a game where the CP and i both break a big one ruining a nice tight game makes me want to break it in half.

I am using this set (sliders are in the second post of the thread):
http://www.operationsports.com/forum...e-sliders.html

I am definitely still way better on offense than I am on defense. All of my games are high-scoring shootouts. Just finished my first franchise game vs the Chargers and won 41-34. It was 0-0 after the first quarter and then, like PGM alluded to, they break for a big play then I break for a big play and the shootout began. Wish things were a bit tighter on each end for me. I am thinking my defensive troubles could be largely due to shotty playcalling. I am definitely not a football expert by any means.

My first franchise game had Alex throwing for 431 yards, 5 TD's and 1 INT.
Rivers threw for 403 yards 1 TD and 2 INTs.

I may just have to make the jump to all-madden and force myself to adapt defensively with the help of sliders.
