Best Way to Clean Baseball Hats?

I have a really cool Royals hat and a couple others that are dingy around the band... and they need to be cleaned...

I typically use hot water and the bathroom sink to attempt to clean them, but the band always stretches out...

There has to be an optimal way to clean these ball caps?

How do you do it?

Smart ass answers are indeed welcome.

You can use a plastic "Ball Cap Buddy" and wash them by themselves in the top rack of your dishwasher. Be careful if the hat is wool. If wool, wash it in the washing machine (in a ball cap buddy) with woolite on gentle setting.

In the dishwasher, don't use any soap with lemon or orange or whatever, that's bad for the fabric. Use the quick wash setting. Don't put any dishes in either, just the cap.

The ball cap buddy in theory sounds like a good idea... how does it work in REALITY though? It seems like it will **** up the crown of the hat or something...

I've used one. It doesn't damage the bill. I just use a tiny bit of soap. Take it out and hang it up when it's done.

Actually it preserves the crown of the hat. Let it air dry afterwards, and you can re-roll the bill if you like to do that. If you're one of these young punks who leave the bill totally flat, it will stay that way.

Real men roll the bill on their ball cap. Like a major leaguer!
