Game Day Rituals
Do any of you have rituals or superstitions that you adhere to on the day of a Chiefs game?
I have a buddy who has a small Chiefs shrine in his basement, and surrounds himself with all his Chiefs gear while watching the game. For one season, I endeavered to wear underwear the color of the opposing team's colors on game day. This was only moderately influential on the game outcome. :D Crazy, I know. Do any of you abandon all logic, and try to influence the game by insane, illogical manner? |

Your buddy sounds alot like me! I hang a big Chiefs penant from a door and banner from the fireplace mantle. Then I place my collection of football cards (current Chiefs) on the table infront of the big screen. And I must have a beer in my Chiefs huggie or Chiefs mug (which ever is working best at the time) at the opening Kick! Oh, and I usually blast that song 'Rock And Roll' about fifteen minutes from KOff. And when I'm feel like bugging the neighbors and turn on the outside speakers. I also do that everytime we score! Kinda silly for grown man, uh. Fu-fu-funnn-attical!

Does yelling at the TV every five minutes "Run somewhere else besides up the middle" count?
Old_geezer hoping that's one game day ritual he won't have to worry about this year. :D

I don't necessarily have a ritual, but if I miss a game and they lose, I sometimes wonder if it was my fault. Likewise, if I watch a game and they lose I wonder if it is my fault for watching. To tell you the truth, I think it is blatant stupidity. They better win some freaqin' ball games!!!! GO CHIEFS!!

Extreme,
Your ritual souns much like mine, but a little different. 1. Make some homemade BBQ sauce. 2. Prep all food to go on the grill. 3. Fire up the grill. 4. Put on jersey. (need to get new one for this year. Maybe Green or Gonzales.) 5. Suck down a martini or two. 6. Put on helmut and run around the house yelling "chiefs, chiefs, chiefs." Scaring the dog who is now in the closet. 7. Yell at the TV the next 3 hours while I eat as much food as I can consume and suck down as many brewski's as possible. 8. Celebrate win with a nice cigar or become unbearable to be around the rest of the day if they lose. ( no wonder BIG DADDY's significant other is a Chiefs fan.) :D BIG DADDY Needing to find a few more Chiefs fans in the bay area.

Kickoff- Crank up the surrond sound, and listen to 101 the Fox. Scream my head off every time something happens (have taught my 4y/o to yeaa "YEA BABY!!" for every TD. Also be unbearable if they lose. Oh yea, I also have a tendancy to chain smoke during a game, so the wife says. |

SOME OF THIS STUFF IS PRETTY FUNNY!
I don't have any rituals but I do take personal responsibility for all CHIEFS home losses to DENVER over the last 10 years. Every BRONCOS game I went to we lost, if I watched at home we won. I have sold my BRONCS tickets the last 2 years.
My better half is a CHIEFS fan but we DO NOT watch the games together. She'll go to the occasional game with me but can't stand to be around me if I'm watching at home. I get the den with the big screen and surround sound and I have both 101 and the TV sound on and switch volume back and forth. I DO NOT sit down throughout the game usually pacing and screaming at the TV. I have destroyed a few remotes and have come close to destroying the TV a few times. I can laugh about it now but I'm unbearable on game day and miserable for days after a loss. ... and yes, 3 years ago one of my neighbors called the police because he thought I was killing somebody [oops]. |

KCPHILLY...
The mental picture I get of you on gameday is hilarious! Can picture you pacing back and forth with sound blasting out of the den, and the remote bouncing off the walls when Raye called a flare pass to Bennett on 3d & 12, resulting in Sauerbrun coming on the field.
BTW, the Chiefs have beaten the Donkeys every game I've attended. For the good of the team, I'll purchase the 16 Dec tickets from you.:D

If you have game day rituals and you feel that they somehow impact the outcome of the game, then it's time to change 'em, cause they ain't workin'.;)

WARRIOR5...
This is no lie. I have started propping cushions from one of the sofas against the wall. I have found that from sitting in my favorite chair, given the proper velocity and correct cushion impact coordinates, the remote will bounce right back to me... Problem is sometimes I miss the cushions. ...CHIEFS vs PATRIOTS, final play, GRBAC to GONZO... In hindsight I think maybe I missed the cushions on purpose?
A business acquaintance has bought the BRONC tickets the last 2 years but if he is not interested this year I will post it here. |

KCPHILLY,
I'm surprised the TV survived after the Pats game!
As far as the tickets, I'll be standing by patiently. Be sure to remind your business acquaintance how bonechilling cold Arrowhead will be on 16 Dec...please remember I'll do this for the good of the Chiefs. I have a special place in my, uh...heart, for the boys from Denver...

Last season, Bob Dole started going to a local bar to watch the games. It was quite enjoyable to show the wine and cheese Dallas fans what a real football fan sounds like. (Now if we can just start winning regularly so the "sounds" contain fewer expletives.)
Turned out to be the most enjoyable out-of-town season yet, all things considered. Found a couple of local KC fans, and there was a regular SeaChickens fan, a regular Faiduh fan and the bar manager in a Donk fan--so had plenty of opportunity to fling insults back and forth across the bar. |

I just came back from New Orleans where I got some mardi-gras beads with little footballs on them. I tried to get them 'blessed' by a voo-doo priest but couldn't find one. I'll be wearing them every Sunday anyhow.
I did, however, go to the grave of Marie Laveau, a famous voodoo priestess and ask for a few 'favors'. We'll see how she does.... |

Still trying to find the right combination to make them win, have tried all sorts of combos of gear, and food, changed brews a couple times. They beat the Rams last year, and I was wearing my jacket, talk about hot inside, then against the Raiders, it was like 45 outside, opened the house up donned the jacket, for what Idon't know.
