First winning season in 10 years, most wins since 1989. What did you think they would do?

For those who hate DM, this news was as good as they could have hoped for.
He was obviously going to be extended, but its interesting that he was only given 2 more years. A valued successful GM gets 4-5 year extensions, so this is clear evidence that there's at least a little heat here. This isn't really a reward, this is a "show me" contract.

Typical, expected, and deserved. It's near impossible to win 86 games in the AL (the superior league as everyone knows) in our market. We had a damn good year, he deserves a lot of credit for that. Not sure if he can get us into the playoffs but he's earned a couple more years.

Is this better or worse than Scott Pioli getting an extension?

Saw this coming, as you cant go into a season, nor try to sign any free-agents, with what would essentially be a lame-duck GM.
If we tank this year, he'll be fired at the end of the season, and that will be that. I dont have a problem with it. Essentially this is a do or die season for DM.

You can't have a lame duck GM. Essentially its a one year deal. Not that big of a deal.
