HBO greenlights A Game of Thrones pilot! (spoilers)

Huge, Huge News

HBO has given the production order.

They will be filming the pilot episode of A GAME OF THRONES.

It's just the pilot so far. They'll need to see that before they decide whether to proceed with a full season's episodes. So let's all hope the pilot will kick serious ass.

It should. David Benioff and Dan Weiss did a terrific job with the script. And yes, all of you can relax, it's very faithful. Dan and David will be the executive producers for the pilot and (we hope) the eventual series.

More details when I have 'em. The news is very fresh. HBO just issued their own press release, which should be up on their website soon, if it's not there already.

Winter is coming to HBO. Hot damn.

I am sure they will be able to ugly her up a decent amount. After seeing Charlize Theron in Monster, I gained a lot of respect for hollywood makeup artists.

They can probably ugly her up, and if she needs to bulk up that's possible too.

Perceptions will vary of course, but I never envisioned the character as being bulky. Big, yes, but in an athletic way. I think there's a mention somewhere in the many unflattering descriptions about how small her breasts are, which made me think of her as more tomboy or female bodybuilder in body type than hulking behemoth.

This is more of a personal thing for me. As I was reading the book, the Fable character popped into my head and that's just the way I've always pictured her.

I'm sure I'll get over it.

It'll be interesting seeing just how ugly they make her. I was a little underwhelmed by the Hound in season one. One of the few things that (sort of but not really) disappointed me.

Funny, The Hound is one of the characters from the show that really resonated with me, seemed to me they nailed to mix of robust badass and wounded child, menace and softness. I was pissed for an instant when I thought it was The Hound they felled when the guards killed Jorry.

The fact that bowing to the King's voice saved him from Gregor's kill shot at the Tourney was a stirring image as well.

Hound problem was 2-fold. First he didn't seem horrific enough in terms of the burn. And I expected a lot more Hound than there was. He was more in the background than I had anticipated.

The book painted her as ultra-homey, but as mentioned, I'm sure they can ugly her down. Great casting here.

There are several points throughout the book where they say that she's simply a big girl. At one point I think I remember someone saying something like "you'd be a big man, but you're a freak of a woman..."

Brienne is definitely supposed to be a bulky thing, IMO.

Bulky muscle yes. But we were talking bulky fat like fraz's pic. And I don't think that works. That doesn't work for either being small breasted or for being a badass swordsma-err, swordsperson.
